  • Bee keeping

Has anyone considered Bee keeping? Honey for sweetner, can salve a wound to disinfect it, beeswax candles, cheap to get into...........Lots of good to be a beekeeper.

I like capturing a wild hive.....I think their more resilient.....your ag extension might have a list of problem bees where you could maybe score a free hive.

          regarding bees

What part of NC are you lailr? Raleigh/East here.

I just started to look for some grant funding sources for a set-up. I work in the "green" industry, and expect that I should be able to get some hives via grants.

          Do you currently manage hives?

          regards

Check with your usda county agent they should have some pretty good literature and maybe be able to recommend someone locally as a mentor.

Especially the killer bee variety:D we in KY have a Spring program I found on line. One was for beginners and it was a day or two if I remember right. Check NC.gov type sites for bee programs.:)
