This may have been discussed in a thread long ago, but its something I have been tossing around in my head for some time now. Here in the Carolinas it gets pretty hot during the summer. I put together a decent Car (make it home to take care of the family) bag, but food has been a concern. If I can not make it by car, I have a 48 mile hump to make it to the homestead. I do have a number of different ways to make it home driving, but just in case I figured I'd get this backpack ready.Originally I was just going to keep a MRE in the pack, but I think with the temp getting up to say 120 in the car, the MRE would barely make it through 1 summer. Maybe not even that long. I have seen those rescue type bars and figured that may be my only alternative. I just wanted to see what some others think or may have already discussed.
Also would a liter bottle of water be OK with those types of temp swings?
