  • Great Looking Bucket Water Purification System - LIFETIME

Saw this written up somewhere else, and have been doing some research on it.

    Check this out!

    http://www.sawyerpointonefilters.com...one-filter.php

Highest Filtration Rates Available- The 0.1 micron absolute filters removes 99.99999% of bacteria and 99.9999% of protozoa and cysts from the water. It is impossible for any bacteria, protozoa or cysts to pass through the filter. These are true barrier filters.

Simple Design and Construction- This system is as simple as it gets. Families would be able to construct and adapt their filter in literally minutes to locally found containers. The kit includes everything you need to attach the filter to any bucket or plastic container. (Bucket not included)

    1. Find a clean bucket or plastic container
    2. Drill the hole 1.5 inches from the bottom of the bucket (you can do this by hand)
    3. Screw the adapter and hosing on
    4. Fill the bucket and let gravity do the rest

Extremely cost efficient- One system could provide clean water for a small village for pennies a day.

Fast Flow- This is a POINT OF USE SYSTEM. Since there is such a high flow rate, this eliminates the need to store water which reduces the chances of water being contaminated after it is filtered. The only external energy source required for the system to function is GRAVITY.

Long Lasting- Maintenance of this filter is very simple. When the filter starts to slow down or clog, simply back wash it with clean water using the cleaning bulb provided in the kit. YOU NEVER HAVE TO REPLACE THE FILTER MEMBRANE. The ease of operating this system makes it self-sustainable and dependable.

Natural Disasters- The bucket system is essential for aid in natural disasters. This system would eliminate the need to ship bottled water.

After joining this site I realized that I had not taken care of my water "problem". This will be perfect and for only $56.00 too! Wonder how this compares to the athletic bottle from Wal~mart that was posted on here a few weeks ago? It had been suggested that you could install it on a "sun-shower" bag for bulk filtering.

Good project for the weekend. I have a diner holding on to a couple of food grade 5 gal. buckets for me.

I plan to filter some water from a creek on my property and send it to SCDHEC for water quality testing.

I am going to start soaking Rusty's nuts in the creek too! Down stream of the sample! :D

How did this turn out? Is it worth the 56 bucks?

If your sending samples to DHEC make sure you send a sample of the water before testing. Try to find some area with still water as well. Flowing water tends to be cleaner than still water.

Becareful here as they offer two types of filters. One is the Point One which filters .1microns. It will take care of Bacteria and Protozan.
This filter removes 7 log (99.99999%) of all bacteria snd 6 log (99.9999%) of all Protozoa:

                            Bacteria:
I.E.: Cholera, Botulism (Clostridum botulinum), Typhoid (Salmonella typhi), Amoebic Dysentery, E. Coli, Coliform Bacteria, Streptococcus,
                            Salmonella
                            Protozoan (Cyst):
                            I.E.: Giardia, Cryptosporidium, Cyclospora
They also have Point Zero Two which filters as small as .02
It wil take care of everything the first one does plus viruses.

I see no mention of heavy metals mentioned.

I am working on some filter information and will post it when complete.
