i have been brewing for years. my beer will kick your azz!!!!! go online to mrbeer.com and get started for 40-50 bucks. then the rest will come to you. very easy and very cheap. once you get the basic point then you can start a baby brewery and do extra things to change your brew. great place to start imho....

have a few batches goin right now!
I brew all the time, it takes only a few hours to do an extract batch and the taste is much better than the blddderwash sold in liquor stores. There are a few breweries in the area and there swill is fine, but something has to be said for making your own libations. It also keeps me out of the bars in the town and off the radar! SCSO can be real hotheads! The local guys are mellow, it's the imports that need adjustment.

I knew a guy in Australia that brewed 100's of gallons a year! He avoided paying tax on his beer and had a handy barter item!
There is currently a PAC in Orygun that wants an 1800% tax on beer. I imagine they will happily 'settle' for a mere 500% tax.

Yes I Brew too! I like beer. and I like to brew my own when I have the time. I use alot of honey in my beer, it kicks up the octane quite a bit, my last batch finished up at around 14% alc. Im mainly an extract brewer which means I brew from malt syrup (having let someone else do all the grain mashing and extracting) I know the purist still like to start with the raw grains (maybe if Im ever able to retire Ill try it) but with the vast aray of malt extracts out there you can brew just about any style beer you want using them. Some are better quality than others.
I buy most of my supplies at www.williamsbrewing.com they have supplies for making beer, wine, and recently roasting your own coffee beans. Nice bunch of folks there. My next brewing project is kegging the beer, bottling is a real pain!

he has written some other books and other stuff too,
brewing of beer requires one to cook ingredients, where as winemaking does not require cooking, both are great hobbies.
Mead, that's some good stuff. Some of my oldest stash is some 15 yrs old now, I only have a couple bottles of it left, it just gest smoother and better tasting as the years go by
hmmm, I have got the urge to make another batch of mead
thanks for getting my juices flowing

Yes, I homebrew and have for many years. I'm "OF COURSE" drinking one right now!!!! Brewing beer is like making bread or cheese ... except you get to say ... "I made those bubbles!" You can make a low alcohol beer for everyday use, or a serious barleywine. If you can hold it up to a 200 watt bulb and can't see throught it! It must be good.
THe Home Brewery is where I've pruchased supplies for years. Papazian's book is a good idea, but you need the supplies to get the job done, and I bet that they have this book in stock too. I could find out for you the next time I'm in there, or even better you can check them out online. Sam, who started the company, and I were friends until he sold out. He was a former Cop too, and a real great guy.
They have everything that you need to get started and keep going on beer, wine, cheese and other things too. I will say that if you ever get into making cheese, there are cheaper suppliers out there.

There are way too many micro breweries around here for me to waste my time trying to make my own.
Besides...those places use alot of stainless steel...I sell and fab stainless steel...I barter...they barter...I like beer...they make beer....priceless!

I've made lots of beer and also honey mead. Beer is really easy to do and not much time. As long as you follow the recipe you'll do ok. I still have about 45lbs of honey for some more mead. Let me know if you run across any good sources online for supplies. I'd like to make some more.

I mead it
I've made mead and loki, but not beer. I do have friends who make beer. There are mead and beer wars in most every town. Good places to get some info and insight on how to do it and specific recipes. I'd love to try some good fruity beer again...

I do not, but have often thought about it. I several friends that do and some of them actually make real good beer. Let me know if you decide to start, maybe we can battle it together.
