It's time to get serious about food

    excerpts:
Hunger and thirst can drive people to do things they normally would never do. These two conditions have driven people to beg, to lie, cheat, steal and even kill.

There are many rules involved when storing food. What I consider the number one rule is to keep your stash a secret as much as possible.

When you are trying to develop your food stash, don't buy all one thing in quantity one month, such as all rice, thinking you will get beans next month and veggies and fruits the next. Try and get a variety of foods into your stash as soon as you can. This is important for nutritional balance in the event you're put into the position of having to live out of this stash sooner than you may have thought.

Great article with a common sense approach. All the guns in the world wont do you any good if you dont have the food, properly stored, that you need to stay alive. I cant stress enough PROPER STORAGE....

I have just joined your group. I too have been concerned for the past few years and have been focusing on food and heat issues. I have cases of food, clean water, making a garden, trying in that aspect to get off the grid of grocery stores. Trying to be prepared for the inability to get out of our house for a period of time. Thanks for having this site, I am sure I can learn so much more I need to.

ok heres the deal if your buggin in thats great BUT if you gotta bug out to god only knows where are you equipped to haul all your stuff and your family too you should have one months supply per person and water along with a purofacation system for refills on the go you can store all you want but if you gotta go it just causes unneeded anixety and remorse for what you have left i too would love too stay where me and my family are at but lets be honest right off the bat im going to have to take care of neighborhood rats then the city trash will come this wayand so on so i would highly suggest storing smarter not harder

trying to get through your post without any punctuation....

I would rather have the food and water even if I had to leave some of it, than not have enough of it.

Of course, a good bug-out plan would take into account having a means to haul your supplies. A great bug-out plan, you wouldn't even need these supplies, because you have more than enough at your bug-out location.

I am sorry about the punctuation,I actually can do this typing thing properly, I just cannot for the life of me do it fast. I am sorry for the grammatical errors i will try to do better. It is just hard to fight zombies, and remember commas peroids and caps while deheading the walking dead.Sorry for the humor

NO problem, I am a zombie afficionado myself.. It's good to see someone who understands the need to decapitate.

anyway, always a good idea to go about food storage in a practical manner.

Agreed. You need to have PLENTY of food. The folks that store only bullets are the ones that will try and take yours!!! So beaware!

Also, store what you eat, eat what you store. Nothing is more wasteful than buying food you will never eat and then throwing it away  So DO NOT DO IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Also be sure that you have enough skills to convert those bulk foods you thought were a good idea, into something worth eating! Hard Red Winter Wheat ain't no good without all the things it takes to turn it into bread. Be sure to think things through!!!

Someday someone may kill you with your own gun, but they should have to
beat you to death with it because it is empty.

The faster you finish the fight, the less shot you will get.
