AJ, my Grandma had that surgery done on both hands....she couldn't quilt anymore, and she LIVED to quilt....she was the epitome of the Church Lady..... as bad as the surgery and recovery was, she got her hands back and quilted for two more decades..... I'll be praying for you.....

The bunion aid ads that show up at the bottom of this page on my computer is sorta funny. All kidding aside, don't let yourself wind in in a chair for the rest of your life cause your feet hurt. Quality of life is soooo important. Prayers for you.

Amy I worked for 3 different podiatrist I won't tell you not do the surgery but get another opinion they won't tell you your pain can get worse It will say that in the papers you sign. You can get a foam sleeve, slip that over your toe cut a side out so it fits the toe and covers your problem area. I wish you could see the pictures in my head and you would know how to cut the sleeve. Get very wide shoes

Have you ever tried Compeed? I used them in Europe as I was backpacking and they were AWESOME! I would see if you could get a bunch online and stock up!

I used to massage my wife's bunions every evening, 'working' their Big Toe until they clunked. To her consultant's astonishment this really, really helped with alignment and mobility.

But, I had strong hands, a lot of patience, and a wife who'd rather suffer my 'physio-terrorism' than have the recommended surgery which would 'pin' those joints.
                    YMMV.
