    NOT!

I owned a couple AK-47's and SKS carbines.

With lousy ammo I could get 4" at my 125 yard back door range.
2" was easy with Red Select Russian ammo.
Chinese ammo wasn't very good but still got 4" at 125.
To me max distance with an AK or SKS against a human target it 200 yards.
With almost any imported ammo 4" and better is easy and that's good 'nuff for
    two legged critters.
It ain't match accuracy but it don't have to be.

I have a Ruger SR 5.56 now and 1,000 rounds of ammo.
The issued sights are just peachy and I don't intend to scope it.
But! My older eyes, might dictate a scope, pro'ly a 3 X Burris.
Some no good dirty rotten Arab thief at a motel STOLE my Double Star 5.56.
The D.S. had a s.s. 18.5" heavy barrel and it would easily do 1.5" at 125 with any
    5.56 ammo.

I still have my 6.8 s.p.c. AR and have taken at least 3 deer with it.
    Fine caliber.
    Ammo ain't cheap however.

I am pretty good with it at 100-150 yards and my handloads. But hitting an enemy soldier in the jungles of Vietnam at 400 yards in the knee to draw out his buddies is complete BS.

I am usually disappointed though. Miss more then I hit.

I would rather have a 44 SPL, solves alot of problems and has better balistics.

When we finaly get to the shooting booths, it's just muscle memory.....no target sillouette has more than two holes in it, but one magazine lasts through eight targets. One center mass, and one head, as fast as can be accurately executed. After a few hours, you've finally spent about half your box of 50, and it's time to service your weapon and go home.

    You're a shootist......not a gamer......congratulations.

Give them a single shot and see if they dont fix those lousy shooting skills.

    Just my opinion though.
I know what you mean...you ought to see some of the guys who come to the range with their buddies and their new rigs....They come with about 500 rds - get the barrel on that new Glock red-hot in about 3 or 4 minutes, make a lot of noise, one guy's loading clips, while the others are taking turns seeing how fast they can pull the trigger...they don't really hit anything, but that's okay, because they're not shootists, they're just having fun...afer about 10 minutes, run out of ammo, call it a day.....head for the couch.

    Just my $0.02

I cannot remember the name of the case, but they shot a retarded kid who was pulling out his wallet to get his ID an 4 cops opened up on him. They shot a total of 49 rounds and hit the kid 6 times. Poor training and lack of range time? Yeah. The answer to lack of range time? Give them LOTS of rounds and hope they hit something.

Me? I hit what I intend to hit with 1 round, and the second is to ensure they go down.

By the way, the kid died. 1 of the spray and pray rounds hit him in the head. I never heard if they were sued, but I would assume that the anti-firearms lawyers had a heyday with the head shot. I am sure that the family no longer lives in a rent controlled flat in one of the less desireable bouroughs.

Piece of cake to load up, they snap right in... Takes a little bit of doing to remove (demoon) the empties but a 1/2 pipe will do the trick in a pinch along with a straight pull away from the clip...

Reminds me I got some nice high impact plastic stock that I am gonna make me a demooning tool this week! Will follow up with that later on :)
