I'm hoping for an old colt. Pre 70 but with limited fun money I will take what I can find at the October gun show. If nothing is available then ill add to my fund and wait till the right one comes along.
Maybe ill be blessed and find a colt in sorry shape like the pt for a 130.00 lol. Naaaaaa never happen!!!

The Colts have a harder slide than the Springfields or the Kimbers. The Colts and Springfields do not have MIM parts like the Kimbers. I have a Springfield Trophy Match on layaway. It has all the bells & whistles, 20 LPI checkering, adjustable sights, magwell, beaver tail, ambi safety, etc. It will be a "game gun" if I ever get back into competetion. I would recommend a 1983 or older Colt Commander. In my opinion the quality isn't what it used to be. My wife has a 9mm Commander made in 1951. It is very accurate and reliable. The only things I have done to it is put a STI S7 hammer for a better trigger pull, a new recoil spring and changed the grips.

I had another Series '70 stolen when I was stationed in Yuma, so I know your pain. It took me about 10 years to replace it.
I'm hoping to replace my stolen 45. This fall. It wont be anything but a basic combat commander, but it will be a colt.

I noticed you said it was your ccw so I didn't mention a may well funnel.

Custom Colt Series '70 Government Model .45ACP CCW
Below is a picture of my Custom Colt Series '70 Government Model .45ACP CCW. I found a virgin Seies '70 with the original box. It has a Kart barrel & bushing, a Wilson Combat slide stop that has been machined flush with the frame and the hole chamfered, STI rear sight, EGW fiber optic front sight, lowered & flared ejection port, it has bee dehorned, Burns hammer, sear & disconnector, Ebony Ahernds grips, Smith & Alexander arched main spring housing with lanyard loop that has been stippled, stippled front strap, stippled top of the slide with french borders, bead blasted with gunkote finish, STI grip safety, an ISMI recoil spring and a stock thumb safety. At 25 yards it is a one hole gun. It was built by Sport-Tac gunsmithing. Thanks for looking.
