I have two vehicles and would like to have one gun in each vehicle as well as carry. Never know when your going to the pool and dont really want to carry your gun with you. These guns will not leave the vehicles. Im thinking of the HiPoint maybe a .40 or .45. Now I see a lot of people hating the HiPoints, but all the owners I have talked to seem to love them with the exception of me right now. The one I have is in need of repair. Other than that, its ok for a super cheap gun.

If I was going to leave one in the vehicle at all times I think an inexpensive HiPoint would be a good choice, if it fires once and saves my life then right then it's the best damn gun in the world. If it should be stolen you haven't lost much.JMOEvery Day , Is A Bonus.

Personally I wouldn't leave a weapon in my vehicle ever. That possibility of some criminal happening upon your vehicle and acquiring that weapon (YOUR weapon) and then possibly using it to commit crimes and hurt good people... Not something I want to take a chance on. If you carry a weapon, then carry it. Don't ever leave it out of sight in a vulnerable place. If it isn't within reach its completely useless to you anyway, and worse yet, can end up in the wrong hands and something tragic could happen as a result. Tragic in the sense that it could have easily been avoided. Consider instead a smaller gun like a Taurus slim 9mm or even a Kel-Tec .32 or .380. I keep a .32 with a laser sight within reach 24/7. As is said, regardless of caliber, the only gun that will save your ass is the one you have on you. Food for thought...

Every time I'm in any of my vehicles I have at least one weapon most times two,but I seldom leave one in an unattended vehicle. My theory is if my weapon is not welcome in your establishment then neither am I and spend my money elsewhere.I never leave my home without some sort of pistol on my person,so there is no need for me to leave one in my vehicles.Every Day , Is A Bonus.

Personally I would not reccomend a cheap handgun for any reason. If you can't afford a good handgun Get yourself a Mossberg 500 18.5 inch barrel pistol grip 12 guage loaded with buckshot. Around $300, reliable, versatile and effective.
I have a S&W 629 .44 mag in my pickup at all times. It is stainless steel so it won't rust with minimum care and I am always armed.SQUARE PEG IN A ROUND HOLE

I am with MasterMynd on this one. Two reasons: 1.) I carry all the time. Why do I need to keep a gun in each vehicle, even if it is an el-cheapo. 2.) Too much can happen to put your gun in the hands of a bad guy. A thug is more likely to break into my car than my home. I live in a good section of town and have decent security in my home. I sometimes park my car in places that are not always secure in bad sections of town. Also, let say you have a child in your car and forgot the gun was there (It can happen). Should that child discharge the weapon you are now responsible for potential injury or death. And in the state of NC, you may be convicted of a misdemeanor:
Any individual who resides with a minor, who owns or possesses a firearm, and stores or leaves that firearm in a condition that the firearm can be discharged, and in a manner that the individual knew, or should have known, that an unsupervised minor would be able to gain access to the firearm, is guilty of a misdemeanor if such minor gains access to the firearm without the lawful permission of the minor's parents or a person having charge of the minor.........
Again, this is just my opinion and I am not knocking the opinion of others.

OK first prkchp just "accidentally" run over your Hi-Point. Then contact the company explain what happened and they will have you send it to them. They will either repair it to factory specs or replace it. When they ship it back they usually include a magazine as a "for your time and effort" gift. They have th absolute best warranty of any weapon manufacturer in existance. It is a LIFETIME warranty on the weapon regardless of how many owners the weapon has had. You will not beat that anywhere else.
As for whether you sould buy a "cheap" Hi-Point product.... their products are inexpensive NOT cheap. When they first started out they had issues but have overcome those. I have one of their 9mm carbines and have put several thousand rounds through it. I have friends that have them as well and none of us have had issues. I know a couple of people that own a Hi-Point handgun and love them, I did as well when I shot them. THey are a bit top heavy and not very ergonomic but for the price you cannot beat them.
I have a funny anecdote. Recently I borrowed a buddy's Hi-Point 40 cal. I took it to the range along with my Glock 17. I took the Hi-Point out of my bag to shoot first and had several people there actually s****** at me because I was shooting something like that, their words not mine. After putting the ulgy beast through the paces i put it away and took out my Glock. Immediately I was asked by the guy nest stall over why would I own a POS weapon like the Hi-Point. I replied, "Because it shoots." He looked all serious and said, "Till it explodes and takes off your hand." He went back and returned to shooting. THis goes to show how their early reputations are still hanging around their neck like an albatross.
