it dont see how it can do anything but help. the question is how much it'll help and how soon. Remington certainly deserves our support for taking a chance on expanding an ammo plant under obama, which is when they started amping up production of .22lr ammo

In 2020, there was 39,695,315 NICS checks. From 1/1/21 to 7/31/2021, there was 25,125,896. Due to COVID, it is safe to assume those who manufacture ammunition were sheltering in place.

With all the excitement in our streets, another safe assumption is a lot of people bought a firearm and ammunition. After the ammunition warehouses emptied and the demand continued, prices increased.
The same scenario applies to lumber.
A man bought a rifle and pistol at Academy Sports when he inquired about ammunition, he was informed their shipments arrive on Tuesday and Thursday and get there early. BTW, as he possessed a SC carry permit, a NICS check was not required.

Funny, I know very few people in the group that I shoot with who didn't stock up years ago, because this is a least the 3rd time (at least) in 25 years this has happened! Within 750+ miles, there are 4 cast bullet manufactures that I buy from, no one has been asked to up his production levels from pre-pandemic levels.

Ditto on shortages and prices hikes. It pays to hoard.. ;)

Too many people are panic buying and based on some of their locations, I can't say I blame them.
New buyers want ammo and now. They aren't interesting in spending today's prices for reloading equipment.

Well my goal for the next 7 days is to build 400x .38 Spl for my weekly indoor range practices and 400x .30 Carbine for a 3 gun match in June. Pays not to leave stuff to the last minute. Nice to have thought ahead. As for the new panic buyers of firearms, nice to see how their attitudes have "changed", but they should have been more open minded from the get go.

Sadly I'm at the age where I have virtually everything I want, I go to a gun show these days just to backup my stock of primers & powder.

Well I'm himming & hawing about that, my local gun store is expecting a delivery of surplus 7.62x25 mm later this afternoon, if it is at a decent price I'll pick up case of 2,520 rds, then order a Norinco Clone of the P226 to shoot it in.

I no longer even try and purchase. I intentionally own weapons in the same or similar caliber. 40S&W, 10 mm. I cast and powdercoat, have alerts with every seller that allows it for primers. Check sites everyday for bullets.Even when I have the money I only buy 1 brick of primers at a time and or 1,000 bullets at a time to leave some for others. We had 1 guy at the range I go to that wipes out every store or site he can find and then hordes them. He tried to sell them at the range and got banned and busted by ATF as he doesn't have the license. People like him don't help with the shortage. WHen available our LGS here in the Panhandle sells 40 & 10mm for $29;99 @ box of 50.

I believe a HAZMAT license is required to ship primers and other hazardous materials.

I did the Chilliwack gun show, considered to be one of the big ones for BC. Very few primers, lots of overpriced stuff. Not slighty overpriced but over store cost +10% or more. If I wanted to work at it I could buy from the LGS mark it up and make 10$ but why?

It was all lost in a boating accident.

My grandson loves to fish; actually he's a fishing addict. He is a deputy sheriff and we text often. One day, he texted me that he spent a few days fishing. When I asked what did he catch; his answer was I was gun fishing. and said what they "caught." Police use very powerful magnets to find firearms that were thrown into ponds..
I learned something new that day.

Local gun store got 5,000 large pistol primers 4 weeks ago. At $120.00 per 1,000 they are not moving fast. They still have 2,000 left.
