WooooHoooo!
Welcome to the addiction. I'm sure you'll soon find out that the AR platform is kinda like the Dallas Cowboys... People either lovem or hatem.
Obviously I'm a huge fan... of the AR not the Cowboys.
Anyway... as to your question, You'll need to get a scattering of all different types of ammo to really see what your barrel likes. The basic rule is that you need a tighter twist to stablize a heavier grain projectile. The 1/9 is reported by most to be really good with 55 to 62 grain. There are plenty of reports that bullets carrying more weight than that will start to tumble and keyhole the targets.
It's almost a sure bet that you won't be able to stabilize anything heavier than a 69, but it never hurts to try.....;)
I use a 1/7 barrel, and have had very good results with Prvi Partisan 69 gr BTHP's Cheap clean and accurate. YMMV
Let us know how she shoots and congrats on your purchase!!!!!
ps... Optics are cool... but iron will never fail and is all you'll ever need.. Just my opinion, and I'm usually wrong.Last edited by slowz1k; 03-03-2011, 03:24 PM.The 12ga.... It's not just for rabbits anymore.
