Have a 16' trailer of mine on craigslist for sale or trade at $600...
This guy wants to trade me his new Ruger 25-06, and I'm interested, but don't know anything about the rifle beyond what I've read online, and the web is short on reviews for this particular rifle......any thoughts?

25-06 is a decent round. It is a 30-06 necked down to .257. Pretty decent. Not a super common round, but common enough that reloading stuff and loaded ammo is available. Not a bad trade if the rifle is in decent shape. What model of Ruger is it? I am assuming it is a M77.
Don't know much at this point...just replied that I'd be willing to consider with more info this morning.
Finally found an article on the caliber on guns & ammo site....they seem to praise it's accuracy and versatility....but do mention the relative rarity of available ammo....
I am starting to think that it would be a nice addition to my BO armament, though...apparently it's quite the little large-game slayer,

Make no doubt. It is a very good round. It is one, however, that I recommend you reload. You will be able to unleash it's true potential.
Well...guy called on my cell and wants to trade this afternoon....we'll see.....
Ruger M77, BA, w/wood stock and factory scope...that's all I know for now.

My first gun I bought was a 25-06 ruger m77. I still have it. IMHO ruger makes a dam good gun nothing fancy nut does get the job done. Its shoots better than I do. I think I paid 375 bucks must have been in 87 or 88. The wife took it over and its all she will use and uses well She has killed 3 elk and many deer with it. Which is fine I guess I get to use the 30-06 I bought her couple yrs ago. (338 hurts to much). I have 243,270,338,25-06.220 all in m77 models never had one problem. Just the shooter  (That would be me)

Well...I dove in....I think I got the better of the deal, if you knew what my trailer looked like...but, I'm happy - he's happy....good deal...
It has a High Country 16x scope mounted on it which seems fairly good...I'll break it down tonight, and clean it up.....probably take it to the property and see how she does at distance....

i was at a gun shop talking about this gun and i was told the bullet velocity out of the barrel will be doing around 4,000 fps screamin fast, you might want to look into this

That may be a little high on the estimate. but I will look it up when I get home in my reloading manual.
Here is what I found online, but I will verify with my manual
.25-06 Remington
Remington adopted this old wildcat in 1969, but the cartridge has been around as a wildcat since at least 1920. .25-06 factory loads drive a 120 grain spitzer bullet to a MV of 2940 fps with ME of 2382 ft. lbs. Other factory loads are offered with 87, 90, 100, and 117 grain bullets.
With 120 grain factory loads the .25-06 is suitable for all species of North American deer, antelope, sheep, and goats to over 400 yards. Actually, the limiting factor is its trajectory. The "Rifle Trajectory Table" shows that this load has a maximum point blank range (MPBR) +/- 3 inches of 291 yards.
To an extent the .25-06 has always lived in the shadow of the similar .270 Winchester as a long range big game cartridge. On the other hand, using 75-87 grain bullets, the .25-06 is a better varmint cartridge than the .270. It is, however, a loud and hard-kicking varmint cartridge.
