  • Marlin XL7 30.06

I mentioned earlier that I was considering a good bolt action .270. Most of you advised that I get a .308 or 30.06, so I went hunting. A friend of mine recommended the Marlin XL7 chambered in the 30.06. The price looks great....$300 or less. I've read a few writeups online about, but I was wondering if any of you owned it or have personally handled it. Let me know what you think of it.

Never owned one, but Marlin makes a fine rifle. Most rifles made today are really decent. If it dings your bell, I say go for it.

Sounds like a great price! I'd buy one in a heartbeat! Marlin is now owned by Remington, not sure what that change has done to quality, but I don't think I'd be concerned.

Five years ago I saw new Savage 110's with a cheap scope for $240 so let that be a guide of sorts.
