Ok, just a little story first before play time.

Yesterday, a citizen brings up a flyer to our PD trying to sell a rifle. It was a Savage tactical .308 with a decent scope, bipod and sling. He was asking $700 bucks for it. By the time I got to work, saw the ad and called him it was gone. So for grins, I log on to gunbroker and search for a similar rifle. Up pops this one particular rifle which was very gently used, has a custom duracoated camo stock, moly coated barrel and sling. Very much a really nice and very accurate rifle with a fair amount of custom work done to it. I then noticed that the auction didnt have a reserve price and that the highest bid was $450 bucks.

Not really thinking, I just bid $460 on the rifle and then saw that the auction had only 90 minutes remaining. To make a long story short, I picked this gem up for only $455! Those who know these rifles, know that they are a good buy. As a matter of fact, Carlos Hathcock swore by them for their out of the box accuracy. Now all I need to do is find a decent scope for it and I'll be done!

So here it is, without further ado:D

You lucky dog!! Sweet. Better reload. I checked out ammo prices in Midland today. $33.00 for 2 rounds of decent 762 x 51. What a ripoff!! I did find a Model 44 Nagant, in arsenal stored condition for $99.00. Oh yeah...its mine.

I was lucky... I've been looking at picking up a Nagant for a while now. You can still get surplus ammo cheap. I have my fair share of weaponry, but one can never have enough! I've been lucky enough in the past to buy ammo in bulk, so I have about 7K rounds of 7.62X51 put away for a rainy day. But I do need to get some good quality moly coated target rounds for this rifle. Any ideas on that Rusty?

Sweeet! Looks like an accutrigger model too...love those triggers! I have a model 10 predator in .223, a model 12FV in .223 (cut down bbl to 18.5" and threaded), and a model 12FVSS-S in .22-250. I love the Savages!

I own 3 Nagants. They are VERY cheap and the round is about like the .308. It has been around for over 100 years, and the Ruskies still use it in the Dragunov Sniper rifle. The rifles themselves are typical Russian. Usually the wood is rough, but they are designed to be worked on by illiterate Russian farmers. There is nothing to them.

I own two G17s and I'll tell you on thing: Clean, clean, clean.....even if you don't shoot this gun, you have to clean it at least monthly.....if you fire it even once....clean.....Glocks tend to be dust magnets, for some reason, even when in the case, and you will experience misfires, etc. if you don't baby 'em....

                        Just my $0.02.

                            Howdy hellbilly!

I think the Glock 36 is a fine choice for a weapon and it is a great shooter. Some folks have a love/hate relationship with the 36, but it has served me well :)

As for the G17 and G19, both are great 9mm's! I think that folks tend to favor the Glock 19 because it is a slightly smaller than the G17 and thus offers more concealment options.

All the Glocks (except the Glock 36) can use the magazines of their larger brothers. For example lets go with the standard 9mm models. A Glock 26 (the sub compact Glock 9mm) can also use the magazines of the Glock 19(compact) and 17 (fullsize). The Glock 19 can use the magazines of the Glock 17 as well. All three can use the 33 round Glock 18 magazines

So folks like the options of have the standard 15 round capability for concealed carry, and the versatility of be able to carry a Glock 17 mag in the the G 19 for the extra capacity when concealment is not an issue...

I prefer the G17 over the G19 because it fits better in my hand. It has alot to do fro me with the finger groove placement on the G19... That being said, a G17 is easy for me to conceal because I am a big dude, may not conceal well on you if you have a skinny frame. Of course this can easily be remedied by dressing around your weapon to conceal it...

A Glock is about one of the most trouble free firearms there is out there. Sure there are a few lemons out there, but they are the exception rather than the rule.

If you are wanting the 9mm then those are good choices, but if you like the .45 look into the Glock 21(13rd) and 30 (10) as well. May or may not fit your needs, just thought they were worth mentioning...

IMHO a high cap 9mm like the Glock 17 (or 19) is a good weapon to have. Plenty of cheap ammo (compared to .40 and .45), fun to shoot (low recoil), and accurate!

As a final note... Just because you got 17-18 rounds of ammo doesn't mean you should 'spray and pray'! You should look at it as I got 18 tangos I can hit once, or 9 tangos I can double tap;) Not, I got 18 rounds and I can take out one bad guy:rolleyes: I know that you probably already know this, just wanted to bring this up whilst we were talking about it ;)
