What does everyone think of this as a backpack rifle?
Browning BLR .308 in stainless steel.
Stats:
Action Type Short Action
Magazine Capacity 4
Barrel Length 20"
Rate of Twist 1 turn in 12"
U.S. Suggested Retail $972.00
I like it; when Browning 1st started marketing these they had a rep for excelent accuracy, though they are a bit heavy especially with the laminated stock. As far as takedown rifles go single shot rifles have a big advantage as most don't need special enginering, just remove the barrel or the butt and they will break-down to as small a package as the Browning.
Did anyone see Gny Sgt Lee R Ermy's new show on The History Channel? He was shooting the new EMR-14 (M-14) which comes with a high tech retractable stock!

Fantastic rifle!!! I like the way it looks. Wonder if it is available in .243?
Rusty the Browning and the Sako lever come in 243 and used to come in 350 rem. (308win. blown out to .35).
I am familiare with the 35 Rem. I used to run a small reloading business where I sold brass. It is a decent round. I will look into the 243. It is a much more versatile round. In my opinion.
