  • Bulk .22 ammo available

Just stopped in a the closest WalMart (Elkin, NC) and picked up some Winchester Bulk .22, first time I've seen such a stack in a while... thought some of you nearby might want to grab some up...

I don't care for the Federal bulk stuff. Does not group well for me and does not make head shots on a skunk at 100 yards very well. I am finding very good prices on CCI Mini Mag and several brands of match .22 LR. Average price is now down to $.04 a round. Sure, it is a lot more than it used to be, but hard to complain when it is less than a nickel. It is now cheap enough that it is not worth reloading.

never heard of reloading .22 rimfire, i dont care for the federal bulk either but i bought up alot of it a few years ago just to keep for hard times, resently swapped a 550 rd box for two boxes of winchester supreme in .280 rem. at 35 dollars abox it was a big profit for .22 shells i paid 9 dollars for three years ago. we are getting remington bulk .22 here now and it seems to be far and above the quality of the federal bulk. i dont generaly hunt with the bulk ammo. its more of an investment i just buy a few boxes of rem sub sonic hollow point long rifle at the begining of hunting season and use it. i hunt small game with a dog and run trap lines and use a single shot .22 for all of this, so i dont use up very much ammo thru the hunting season

I've got about 4500 rnds but I have another 2500 back ordered, I still remember when 22LR was $0.86 a box, or less.

Yeah, I was thinking .223 when I made the reloading comment. Mixed up my calibers in the same thought.

The American Rifleman once had an article on reloading rimfire ammo, it was a tedious process and I don't know if you can legaly posess the primer compound any more but it can be done.

I have heard of it being done on some of the reloading forums, but I have not. I was thinking .223 for some reason.
