I was told the turkey choke I bought was suppose to keep a tight group but I can throw either choke in if I rember I have full, modified, and I think the third choke is a Cylinder Bore and 3 or 4 others including 165 turkey choke barrel length is 28"
Yes Turkey choke is EXTREMLY tight; I can place a bunch of buckshot into a 2 foot circle @ 35 yards, within it's limitations it is like a SMG, maybe better!
That is why my OTHER shotgun has an open bore, good out to 20 yards, maybe, excelent in CQB. All for home defense of course.

Turkey chokes indeed provide a very tight pattern at distance. Whatever you do don't have anything but a Cylinder Bore Choke screwed in when using slugs. These sites should help you decide which choke is best for your purpose/use:

I have an extension on my 870 plus one of them stocks that carries 4 rounds in a recess inside the stock, that's 1/2 bx of ammo and it is dang heavy especially when swinging it around. I'd hate to think what 14 rounds would feel like!
As for chokes; I have open bore on on 870 and turkey on the other
I just put a mag ext. on my 870 express to bring it to a 10 shot question is what would be the best choke for defense for now I have a full choke in it but I was thinking of using the turkey choke. Any suggestions would be app. Thanks in advance.
Mini-14
Since I run both slugs and 00 buck in my shotguns I go with whats called a "Cylinder Bore/Choke" which is no choke at all on my longer barreled shotguns. With the shorter 18 inch barrels (that are normally smooth bored), I run "Improved Cylinder" barrels. "Improved Cylinder" barrels work quite well with rifled slugs and 00 buck. Rifled slugs are meant to be shot through smooth bore barrels. Love my 870s, you may want to consider installing a "Tac-Star" Side Saddle on the receiver:
Caution with the higher capacity side saddles; you may need to mod your current foregrip or replace it with a shorter one. This will enbable you to rack the foregrip, as the longer side saddles will strike the foregrip before it is fully racked.

Reason: Additional Info
If you know anything about how to handle your rig...go for a full choke and pepper the target.....if you're not the best shot, open up your bbl accordingly.....speaking strictly self-defense oriented....but beware of collateral damage when usin' wider chokes....

Ya might want to put that question to Bayou Blaster ,or maybe Big Saw, from my observations those two guys are firearms aficionados,I would think it would depend on the distance from your target will be from you and what kind of damage ya want to do to it.
