  • Turning Birdshot into Slugs

First and Foremost I DON'T recommend anyone try this at home.

Interesting from an ingenuity standpoint. I've seen several variantions of this theme before:

Introduction by Steve: This is a guest post is written entirely by Y-Man. He has shown incredible ingenuity in a country that severely restricts the firearms and ammunition civilians can purchase. I have previously blogged about Y-Man’s exploits. Imagine that all you could ever get in terms of ammunition is this: Ordinary 12 gauge, BB … Read More …

The person who came up with the idea is from Nigeria and can't get slugs where he's at.

As a child I saw a National Geographic special concerning the hunting of Sumatran Tigers I believe. Anywho the hunters were able to fashion a bullet by melting down old metal tubes of toothpaste and pouring the molten metal into a bamboo stalk (Bullet Mold). They would then break open the bamboo and cut/shape bullet to fit a rifle casing. They then used the heads of matches for propellant/powder and primer. After trapping the tiger in a pit and use a makeshift rifle at close range to kill the tiger. They took the whole thing apart afterwards and buried it the jungle.

Enjoy the Frog Legs, Gator Tail and Mudbugs. Being a Yankee myself I will never try it unless my life depends on it. ;)

I simply bought a LEE shotgun slug mold, makes good slugs once it's warmed up, for a lead pot I use an old coffee can I mashed a bit and welded on a handle. I heat it with one of those little single burner propane stoves that screw right on top of the little propane tanks. Or sometimes I use the side burner on my grill, same difference really.
