  • Mossberg 500

Gander Mountain finally got some more Federal 00 Maybe it's a seasonal thing but they've been running very bare shelves lately concerning 12G ammunition. Maybe things will pickup in the fall.
Anyway.... Speaking of the 12 gauge, thought I'd post a pic of my old Mossberg. This is my Home Defense and clay busting buddy. I've been trying different stock configurations from standard wood to a shortened synthetic youth, to a few different "M4 style" collapsables.
The one pictured is a Knoxx Industries NRS and is by far the best fit for my build. The sights are an MMC Ghost ring set up with a banded front tritium. I'm not a big fan of banded front sights, and I may 86 this one for a blade, but it was on sale, so I thought I'd try it.

It's nothing special, but I thought I'd share anyway.

Nice looking shotgun, but I have to ask; isn't the foregrip uncomfortable to rack with all those rails? Were you planing on installing a vertical grip to the lower rail? I would think it would be a hinderance or uncomfortable if you have to rack the foregrip back on a tight expended shell hull? Love the Knoxx Stock.

The foregrip is a polymer so it's not the cheese grater that some of the higher end aluminum models tend be. I usually run a vertical grip that works really well, especially when shooting clay, but it tends to snag and get in the way when and if I'm running a sling. I have a "stubby" vertical on order that I hope will work well.

                prkchp76,

Actually, everything but the sights were ebay auctions. I saved a bunch on the Knoxx NRS stock. The sights came directly from MMC.

The gun sports a stubby vertical grip now, which really improves the feel and makes racking the slide much easier. I'll try to post a pic tonight.
