My brothers delta ring got all scratched up when i was installing his Kac rail is there anyway to remove the scratches for his whiny ass?
Neverknow
Don't know if you got your brothers delta ring fixed yet, but Birchwood Casey makes 2 products that might fix it up for him. The delta ring MUST be degreased first in order to use either one. The first product is called "Aluminum Black" and the other product is Birchwood Casey's "Touch Up Pens". I've used both products before with sucess. The big thing is to make sure the part is warm when using the "Aluminum Black". Recommend using a hair dryer to accomplish this. The Touch Up Pens is a very close match. Good Luck.
Ammo? :D Hey all the extras are specialized stuff. I for go a light on my guns for the simple reason it gives my position away. Get night vision instead.
Well seeing were on this subject tell me what you guys think of my set up and tell me if im missing anything. The rifle is a colt, rail: knights armament Optic: Aimpoint m2 and the light is a surefire m951 weaponlight. Anything missing or need to change:confused:
Ok, I'll put it another way... The AR has a finish blemish? Ok what is it a $800 to a $2000 dollar gun depending on brand. Hmmmm? I'll give 25 cents on the dollar for it. Look if it holds a loaded mag and the bolt assembly comes back and goes forward scouping up a round into the chamber and you can then still operate the trigger mechanism to make the scarred AR smash the firing pin and the chambered round goes bang sending the bullet down range following the site path then it is ok. But all joking aside if the scratch is deep and metal is showing you could look around for a gunsmith and see what it would take to fill and recolor/blue/parkerize or whatever the term is today. I take the position that a gun is a tool and if it functions flawlessly then it is good! You don't go to a conflict showing your pretty chrome polished weapons and then decide who won the conflict based upon the finish or design work engraved on the weapons body.
If you don't want scratches on your AR, when do you ever expect to practice in any realistic manner... You get scars after a scratch?????? WTF
Just slide it around the garage floor and the single scratch will have plenty of company. "Don't Wooorry Abooout it!"
Reminds me of the suggestion to take a ballping hammer and plonk your new vehicle once so that you don't have to worry about it being pristine any more. Don't think I'd subscribe to THAT, but don't see how to keep a weapon pristine if you ever use it!
As Skyowl says about the vehicles, "It's a bloody truck! It's gonna get dinged if you USE it!"

My SIG556 has only had about 15 rounds thru it and I have brass kisses to the rear of the ejection port. It's the nature of the beast. Adds character. She is not a safe queen. I plan to beat the snot out of her the next time I take her to the range. Your brother should look at the "scratches" and consider them character, not blemishes.
