handgun consealment in vehicle

I work at a plant in a large city. My company has strict rules about no firearms on company property which includes our vehicles since we park on company property. We have not been searched in years but I would hate to lose a good job. Any ideas on how to hide a pistol in a truck that would not readily be found by a search? Need my job but hate being without some protection as I travel through some pretty bad areas on route to work. Thought some of you may have run into this problem before.

To start, I'd recommend obtaining a concealed weapons permit just in the chance that you may need it someday.

For a location of stowing a pistol, you would need to look for a place that has a panel or piece of molding that would need to be removed with a tool, such as a screwdriver, but also allowing it to be accessible in an emergency. While I do know of many places inside of a given vehicle to stow items, it would not be beneficial to you for me to recommmend a place to hide something.

Remember the dust as well. If you do stow something (anything) in your vehicle, remember to remove it periodically to clean it. Dust can destroy everything, I've had it happen with a trunk mounted radio amplifier.

Can you park OFF of company property? If so, problem solved.

I have had a consealed carry permit for years. Parking off the company property is not a option unless I wanted to walk a mile every morning and evening. Know it would be good for me but just not happening. Also would probably not have a vehicle when I got back. Just thought I'd ask.

Mike, I sure know those type of areas well!! Oh Man, especially in MEMPHIS! I don't think anyone can actually give you advice on concealing a weapon in a restricted area as it is, well, illegal isn't it?

Actually, there is nothing illegal about it. Just against company rules. It should be illegal for them to take away my right to defend myself while going to and from work.

I went to the Harbor Freight Store and bought a safe with a digital keypad (approx $30.00) mounted it on its back in the rear floorboard of my vehicle I keep my weapon and anything else of value, it conseals my stuff and is easily accessible if need be.

Bass Pro has a gun safe thin enough to fit under most seats, secures with a cable around the seat frame. Legally they can't search your vehicle, but they can threaten to fire you. Ain't right. But really the safe is pretty good, and cost around $40.00.

Had a buddy that had a 1973 ranchero, there was enough room just behind the rear wheel well to mount a box under the car... his didnt lock but worked great for what he wanted!

Do you go through a medal detector? If not, conceal the gun on your person. Make sure it is not going to fall out or be seen. You may have to buy a smaller gun for this. But if there is no reason for someone to search your person then it should not be a problem.
