  • FYI Ammo problems

I just ordered over 12,000 .223 for the agency as well as 15,000 .40cal and 2500 9MM. Even though we have priority ordering we were still told it would be close to 8 months..... Training is going to be slim the next 6 months or so. So if its this bad for me ordering, plan on it getting worse for you.
(Good thing I stockpiled my personal supply over a year ago) :D

I reload everything I shoot except rimfire so about the only time I buy anything is to replenish my brass. I've calculated it's worth it for me to buy the canned heat specials from Georgia Arms just for brass.
That being said as of today when I checked they are about 60 days behind schedule and waiting on components.
I have personely had components on order since early February and have been given a delivery date for some items as far out as June. I'm not out of anything but I'm definatly glad I have stuff on order.
For everyone else I would suggest you look at your needs for the next 12 months and plan ahead.

Most of the places that I have gone too are out of reloading supplies like rifle and pistol primers, 223, 9mm, 45, 40, 357, 38 brass. They all had plenty of 209 primers and supplies to load shot gun shells but they were low on lead shot.

I'm not sure how many of you feel about purchasing from private parties, but I have located, thru my son in Salt Lake City, their local online advertisements for ammo.

There are some really good buys here.

              Gentlelmen:
Know that something "good" has come from the election of "Osama" The American public is now becoming aware of what a fraud he really is and are taking up arms. The gun shops in the west are reporting semi-automatic rifles, hand guns and small bore can no be kept in stock. Many of the folks buying hand guns "never in their lives" expected to own a gun.

The thought of home invasions, ie most practiced crime in Australia, is becoming recognized as a real possibility in the U.S. You may expect that someday soon someone will want your groceries, your money or other possessions and you damn well need to be ready.

Buy guns and stock up on ammo.

Gun Shows to Get Your Ammo

Don't know about the rest of you but I keep in tune with the gun shows in my area. We have an ammo wholesaler that usually attends these events and has some of the best prices considering that most of the "discount" online places are reporting out of stock on what I need. My son, who lives in Salt Lake City, will be attending his first this weekend with cash in hand to stock up on what he needs. My next show is on the 25th in Phoenix. I will be there as it is usually the largest show in Arizona.

I will not be caught short. DHS recently released that report on us "Right Wing Extremists" buying up lots of ammo. So be it. You do what you gotta do.

                  Primers

I know that this will make some of you mad but I just have to share the good news.

I have been trying, as I'm sure many of you have, to find small rifle primers (either the CCIs or the Remingtons) to do the reloading for my 223. Well, today I remembered that military installations have Sportsman Centers, or Rod and Gun Clubs. Being retired military, I called ours today. They have them in stock. Woo, Hoo!

Went by the center and got a brick of each, CCI BR4, CCI 400 and CCI 450. Had to do it this way as they would not sell me three bricks of CCI 400 or the others at one time. Had to leave some for their other customers. I bought the first brick at 1045 this AM and the remainder at 1630. In the time difference, they had sold over 6000 small rifle primers. The news had gotten out that they had them.

The point of this is as follows. If you have friends in the military, either active or retired, and you live near a military installation that has a Sportsman Center, have them make the purchase for you while you still have time. Hopefully them will still have some in stock.

The guy in sporting goods at the local walmart says gun shop owners are now buying all the ammo when walmart gets a shipment in.

He knows the gun shop right down the road and saw the guy buying all the ammo they had a few hours after it arrived so he went to his shop and saw the ammo on the shelves at twice the price of walmart.

I am not sure how I feel about this. You want to sell ammo for way over the price it actually costs, and just to make sure you can you buy it from other places who are selling it for cheaper.

Almost seems like price fixing. As long as walmart sells it for 20
I can't sell it for 40, so I buy up all there stock.

I do know one thing, I will never shop at that store.

I hold a sales tax permit and there is nothing illegal about buying stuff at a retail or wholesale store for resale as long as you charge the sales tax when you sell it, however, if you go in and buy all the inventory to stifle competition, that is where I would quesiton whether it falls on the illegal side of price fixing.

I was looking on Gun Broker for some special .22 ammo I like and came across this listing; http://gunbroker.com/Auction/ViewIte...Item=127343466

Are people this crazy to be paying these prices??? I realize ammo has dried up considerably, but that is nuts! Same ammo, $12.95 at my Walmart. Might have to start selling ammo!
