went to Academy sports tonight to order a new shot gun I have been wanting,"410sxs with chokes",we started talking about all the talk of the DOD not selling surplus brass anymore,I was dealing with the dept manager and after about 10 minutes he looked aroung to make sure no one was looking and then pulled out a memo from the corporate office and let me read it,I am not Chicken Little and I dont get on the world is ending threads but this was real and I read it. this is not word for word but here is the jest of it,,
,,,The first week of June all dept managers had class to go too on the new laws concerning ammo sales "did not state what the new laws were to be" and by the end of this year all stores were to READY TO COMPLY WITH all new laws and to remove all firearms left in inventory that were simi-auto with removeable magazines,no new orders of such firearms would be accepted after Oct 1st

Are you sure it isn't a sales pitch to get you to buy now?

I have no doubt this administration would like to ban assault weapons (isn't that redundant, weapons are made to kill, so maybe one that only assaults but doesn't kill should be returned as defective)

The problem for them is that there are a lot of democrats who are pretty good supporters of the second amendment, some of them got their jobs when they replaced the crew that voted in the first AWB. Republicans don't own the gun control issue. For example both democratic senators from Montana have come out against it, and several others as well. of course there are the republican turncoats who may balance it out, but overall I doubt the legislation could get even 50 votes in the senate, let alone 60 to pass.

Our problems will come from import restrictions and the like, things that can be accomplished by executive orders and justice department rulings. The second ammendment may not protect our rights to foreign made weapons and ammo, unfortunately. Also our right to cheap surplus ammo and brass is likewise not guaranteed and can be ended without new laws (my opinion)

Bottom line, I think ammo is the area to watch. There are things that can make it more expensive. Reloading may be very desirable. I never did in the past, but since the flow of cheap ammo might be ending I am considering it.
My weapon can kill, it isn't limited to mere assault

I've heard this all over the web and on the tv talk shows and news shows as well. Everyone wants to know where the ammo is, I think it's waiting for the ID system to kick in. I'm franticaly trying to get my guns and ammo supply built up right now.

It could just be that the company doesn't want to be involved in such a hotly debated subject, so they've decided to no longer sell these types of weapons. To them it's cheaper to not sell something like this than deal with rediculous lawsuits later. My mother has been in management for a long time at a VERY LARGE retailer that we've all been to. I have learned that this is the way companies like this operate. They will always roll over and never stand up for their rights.

I've heard it from a freind, that any gun with a removable magazine will be on the "New Gun Ban" that Obama is getting ready to push through congress.
