  • Mesquite Texas Gun show report

I really didn't need anything firearm related, but curiosity got the better of me and I took a trip to the Big Town gun show this afternoon. As I had a lot of work to do, I went pretty late in the afternoon and it was beginning to clear out a little, but here is my overall impression.

There seemed to be a little less panic that has been typical of every gun shop or firearm related business I have been in lately. The prices still seem higher than pre-election, but less outrageous than other times.

I did find a deal on something I wasn't really looking for and had to buy a couple of Wilson Combat elite tactical magazines for my 1911. Cheapest price I've seen anywhere, so I grabbed a couple to make 5 total.

There was ammo, but not great deals, just ok.
My weapon can kill, it isn't limited to mere assault

    Thanks for the report.
There's probably no less panic.....we're just running out of cash:o
Natchez Shooters Supply, while sometimes low on stock, seems to be staying fair on prices.

Mesquite was my favorite show. But, I used to set up and sell there.

It does seem to be calming down a little, perhaps it is the money.

I am not a wealthy man, not even average income right now, but based on past experience, firearms are a good inflation hedge as an investment, plus you can defend yourself and have a lot of fun. For this reason I make firearms a priority for any funds I can get my hands on without neglecting anything else. But I will not pay the inflated prices out there, I only do business with those giving what I feel are fair prices, not fear prices.

I've never seen a decline in gun prices in general, in fact the exact firearms I was buying for 400-500 in 1998 are going around twice that now. And that is excluding the run up in certain types. I am just talking about Colt and Smith and Wesson type pistols. Perhaps metal prices have something to do with it?

If there is some sort of ban, or course price and availability may be problems.

            Never fails

Everytime there's a gunshow in Mesquite, I end up having to work. I'm east of DFW a ways and it's the closest gunshow for me. Someday I hope to make one, but I'm not holding my breath that it'll be anytime soon. Thankfully I've already got a nice little arsenal built up alreayd, but it never hurts to add to it.

They're ok, but their prices are getting a little too steep for me. I do love hearing the MANY variations Mickey puts into his doom and gloom stories. Evidently there was one this weekend over in Greenville, but I didn't hear about it until late Sunday, so I didn't get a chance to check it out.
