  • ammo must be starting to flow a little again

I was on my way home from work and stopped at a wal-mart I dont normally go into looking for something the wife told me to pick up,while there went to see if they had any ammo, they had just recieved a shipment today,I bought 4 boxes of each,,Winchester x-pert bulk .22,,500rds $12.95
Federal power shok 20 rd box 150gr 30-06 $12.95 and Federal power shok 20rd 150gr 30-30 $10.95 box,,I am not a great fan of Federal rifle ammo but at these prices the 30-06 was cheaper than surplus and no shipping cost

You must be lucky then, because I just got back from my local Wal-Mart and they were out of everything except .25 auto, .357 Sig, .270, .300 Win Mag, .17 HMR, .22 short, 1 box of 7.62X39 and 2 boxes of expensive .223 with ballistic tip ammo. They had a fairly good stock of shotgun shells though...

I hit our Walmart the other day and there was a guy already waiting for help. He bought 3 bricks of Federal .22. I bought the last 2, 2 bulk packs of Fed. .223, and 5 Blazer Brass 9mm. Then the shelves were pretty empty. I hadn't seen 9mm in a while.

Ours did have more stock than usual on wednesday. I was able to buy 4 boxes of federal 550 .22. Handgung and rifle ammo was still mostly the odd calibers.

I stopped at Walmart on my way to work this morning (ok afternoon) and they had recieved a shipment. The guy behind the counter said they had recieved 9 cases of the Winchester 9mm White box I had my eye on and were down to the last one. his comment was basically "someone must have told you guys we got this in".

I bought 800 rounds, there were still a 6-7 boxes left, but they went through it fast. I was curious who "you guys" refers to, but I left it alone, not wanting to get into a conversation, I did have some work to do.

They also had a decent stock of everything else in one brand or another, except 45 and 22LR. They had 22LR but not in 550 round boxes.

It looks to me like the inventory is coming in but the buying is still at a pretty good pace. So far my purchases are out pacing my consumption, so i think I am ok. I've actually probably built up a very good stock of target ammo for my pistols, and have plenty of premium pistol ammo.

Rifle ammo is another matter. I am having a hard time finding my chosen premium ammo for my rifles at a decent price, specifically the Federal 308 my R25 likes. It never had been on the shelves at Walmart anyhow :(

            cwconnertx,

Have you ever tried Radway Green or Dynamit Nobel in your R25? My .308s love them. Everything from my M21, AR-10 or bolt guns. They are FMJ and Military surplus, but they shoot accurate and consistent and are a good all around round.

I haven't yet, but I will give it a try, anything to reduce the cost of running these things.

I stopped at another Walmart on my way home and found a pretty good supply of most everything. at least 15 100 round WWB 9mm, quite a bit of 22LR, both Federal and Remington.

              I bought 2 550 boxes of 22

I did a quick inventory of pistol ammo when I got home. found I had over 2500 rounds of 9mm, but only 1900 rounds of 45. Almost 10,000 rounds of 22LR.
I think i will vacuum seal some of it this weekend for storage and try to find some 45 also.

Aimsurplus has the cheapest price I've found on the Radway Green and Sportsmansguide has the best price I could find on the Dynamit Nobel. If you've ever shot Hirtenberger which was and is known for being the best military surplus on the market, you'll like the Dynamit Nobel. Hirtenberger almost exclusively produces larger munitions and have tasked Dynamit Nobel with running their small arms stuff. I bet you'll like it if you give it a try. Being FMJ and accurate, its a good multi-purpose round for whatever you might be using if for :D

I wish Asheboro wal-mart would get some in.. Been there just about everyday and all I see is some 30-06 and 270's. 30-06 going for 22.97 and box.

Thanks Owl! There are several coming to our area and hope to attend. Husband goes to them, but I have never attended one. Maybe I will shock him and go with him to a few. ;)
