So do you guys think with the potential and probable revival of the assault ban, including high cap mags, that high cap mags themseleves will be a huge commodity to own, and possibly even resell or trade in the future? Specifically 30 round ak mags?
what else might be worth snatching up now in anticipation of the ban, that would be profitable and tradeable?

Honestly...I believe if the ban gets kicked in, a "trade-in" (*cough*...voluntary confiscation) will be next in order to collect all those items included.....
A few years ago, the B*stard Harry Ried of Nevada actually ran a successful program in Vegas where he invited folks to bring in their handguns and get credit toward a new flat-screen TV....I think they actually "collected" over 2500 guns...makes me sick...

The ban will happen, imports will be stopped, and qualification to legally own one will increase substantially. But .gov will NOT try and confiscate anything.
Why?
It would cause mass panick, break out skurmishes and fights, ungodly expense and riots, lack of support for .gov, weaken the country, leave us open to attack from other countries, and further damage the economic disaster we face.
It's not going to happen and is not feasible.
But they may start enacting laws where if u do this or has this , like a dui or something u have to turn in your weapons or can no longer buy, then the next one will be something even more simple.. they could and may strip more rights.
But a straight up confiscation of 30-50 million weapons or however many it is, just can not happen, they are not tha dumb. the man power involved would be insane.

Eh...they'll get whatever they want, 'cause the majority of their constituents believe as they do....if it's not a muzzleloader, a revolver, or a bolt-action, you're over-armed and are just looking for trouble...only the poloce and military need that kind of firepower....blah blah blah....
Never say never, Bud....A minority freshman senator from Illinois could never have won the whitehouse in '08.......remember?

Anyways back on topic do you think high cap mags with very valueable to own and trade once the ban hits again? is it something worth focusing on gathering right now
What would you see a $15 ak mag being worth after the ban is enacted

Heh...whatever the guy who has 'em wants....$50...$75....$100? Who knows? Will it even be legal to sell them privately? Again, who knows? Already some hard pushes to move ALL private sales through qualified FFL channels....

If you remember the last ban prices went up quite a bit on handgun magazines. Did not see too much of a rise in price for high cap rifle mags. But you never know with the current political and economic climate they could very well increase significantly. Sellers, gunstores and gunshows are feeding the fires of fear and the resultant price increase firearms, ammunition, and high cap mags. Finding people who would admit they have a need for high caps may not be as easy after the bans take effect for fear of losing their firearms? That's why people are getting while the getting is good.

I've discovered one flaw in your thinking......you're thinking. A trait that those in Washington D.C. seemed to be missing. As in intelligent reasoning....like you are doing has been long banned in DC...me thinks

I might have to mirror that point.......
D, you've got a good line of thought, but the little devil on my shoulder tells me to keep on my toes, anyways.....

Oh, I agree...but 250 million by how many actual owners? probably less than half the populous.....be a good study to research....

I like Tom Gresham's use of the term standard capacity magazines for those 'high capacity' magazines since the firearms were designed around having those 20 or 30 round mags in the first place. Now a 100 round drum we can call high capacity, but if the military uses 30 rounders as the most common size I think that is the regular or standard capacity, we can call the others low or restricted capacity magazines. Words matter and every person who we can get on the side of freedom matters.
