Not sure. Probably some sort of high impact explosive embedded into the projectile. Back in the day, I heard rumours that some of the local motorcycle gang scum would press primers into the hollow points of .38's. Sounds like a very stupid plan to me, and it may have been just a rumour.
If it's the same dead-pan I've seen, it's an "on-impact" frag round....guaranteed prison term if you use it in private defense.....jury will say you had premeditated lethal intentions...even in a SD case...I wouldn't even consider loading my daily carry with it...
