Need some input on scopes. I have never scoped any of my rifles but am thinking about putting one on a SKS. What size would you reccomend for work out to 300 yards and would a laser dot be a better option?

    Thanks,
    fof

300 yards with an SKS is REALLY pushing it. Even with a reload.

Try this though. It was designed specifically for the SKS>

I would not put a fancy scope on the SKS. Mounting them are a pain in the butt, and the recoil is different from Ruskie guns. They will eat the heck out of a standard scope.

$59.00 will get the above, with mount and some goodies. Quality is typical com-bloc.

And if your local gun pusher sells you one of those hi tec lazer sights, remember, you put the dot on what you want to hit. Think you can see a dot in broad daylight at 100 yards?

Also, they run on batteries. If you are looking a survival rifle, I hope you have a backpack full of batteries for the scope. They eat power quickly!

Im a ak person myself, never used a scope on this type rifle however I inherited a 10/22 and had the old standard 3 x 9 scope and I found it working best at 3x for this non sniper rifle
