Well, and depending on your state laws, it might make sense to have real "weed" seed stashed away. Pot will be a huge item and will fall into the vice category like booze and tobacco. Also as things drag on many would come to realize the uses it has for medicinal applications and how it can replace many of the OTC drugs out there.

The one down side that I will mention that comes with producing any of these 3 after TEOTWAWKI is the same one that cartels and drug suppliers deal with currently. There is ALWAYS going to be somebody that would rather take from you what your producing (opium, alcohol, weed) than buy or trade for it.
As a young man I walked in areas of southeast Asia that few Americans have and got to see how far men would go to protect there poppy fields. My only suggestion, if you have to deal with more than family or friends be a ghost. What I mean is find a middle man, someone far enough away from where you live that they can't accidently find you and that your smart enough to never trust. This will be someone that will supply you with what you want out of the deal and set up his own distribution network. If you can't do this just remember war lords and cartel heads become what they are for a reason.

silver and gold is okay for now as an investment, maybe still okay in a minor event lasting a few days a few weeks, but as a long term thing maybe the end of the world as we know it? nope, I store food and water, ammo and clothes, boots, knives not gold and silver, I wont be bartering either, in the beginning it wont be safe and by the time it is I have learned to live without whatever it is that is bartered.
