    Well the southeastern US is pretty miserable for a good portion of the year without A/C between the high heat and high humidity there is a reason that prior to A/C the population was much smaller there... the flip side is going north where winter temps can often hit single digits to negatives and with windchill added on it can often get down into the negative teens. Out in the upper midwest even down into the -25 to -35 range before windchill. So a nice warm -20F day would be -29C. or a cool 104 plus heat index making it feel like your wrapped in a 110 wet wool blanket aren't that unusual. Grumpy, where do your annual highs and low temps range for your pat of the UK?
    I can explain it to you, but I can't understand it for you!
