They are what they are....I cut a lot of cord and rope at work....so I deem them necessary....

I'd rather have serrations on my folder and my fixed blade to be smooth....

ahh the Bk2 Id rather get the BK7 but I heard the sheath is junk.. If it came with a Kydex or hard plastic id get the 7, and have you ever used the BK2 for batoning wood at all?

                  The BK-7 is a good knife....thinner though.

seems like a hell of a knife, was curious about the handles on it though. how would they stand up to some abuse? think theyd manage well? or would I be best to remove em' and just use some 550?

The handles are some of the most comfortable I've used....they are how ever injected molded plastic...and when wet....slippery.

They do offer quite a few different materials. I'm checking with a local company to see how much it would be to have a set (or 100) cast from aluminum.....There is a small foundry near my shop.

Also....if you pulled the handles....the sheath would have nothing to lock to.

I currently carry a Leatherman 2.9" liner lock. It has a very 'open' construction and picks up coins and such in my pocket. Plan to switch to a Cold Steel 3" plain edge Voyager when I have the money.

                            Echo,
Does the metal on the back of the sheath contain any iron? If so, it could cause the compass to give a false reading.

nope....all aluminum....well....one brass screw.....I do have to remove the knife to use....and it is quite accurate.
