  • These would be good in a BOB and easy to make

Here's the link to a site on making small alcohol stoves. I have made many of these and they really work nice. Very small and will boil water in a matter of minutes.http://hackedgadgets.com/2006/09/01/alcohol-stove/ You can experiment with different hole positioning to find one that works best for your needs.

Used to make these things outta big coffee cans...they'd cook up a stew for an entire squad in no time flat....good stuff.

Not yet. Still finishing up that knife I got talked into making. Should finish it tonight though. Next project will be trimming the 7.62 x 39 brass. Then the stove.

I like my HOBO Stove better as it uses little sticks and twigs for fuel and easily fits into my BOB

That is cool. I've got to empty out a couple of cans of something here today and give it a shot.

I like the hobo stove as well but sometimes hike in areas that don't allow fires. For that I made a smaller version out of a 15oz veggie can for use with sterno.

This is how it rides in the pack with the small can of sterno. Usually have my ferro rod and container of tinder tucked in there too.

Take out, open and light the sterno then place the stove grill up to cook. Boils a cup of water in 4 min.
Peace is that brief glorious moment in history when everybody stands around reloading.

A guy I work with uses one of these for back-packing. He said he can boil water in a medium size pot in around 4 minutes. I plan on making one and adding it to a pack.
