    I've done it, it works.

    Just remember: Black on Black! (Negative terminal (black) on the cast iron to be cleaned (black).

    That is an awesome trick! Im going to try it, I have a pretty "krusty" skillet right now.. Ill give it a go!

    We use kosher salt to clean castiron. The courseness of the salt grinds down the food particles and absorbs anygrease as well. Best thing is that it dosent require re-seansoning the piece. Obviously no water/no rust.

    Good stuff! I loved the end about how to make your own washing soda.. kinda goes along with the DYI laundry soap thread I posted! We have not used ours yet, waiting to runout of the store bought, but gelled up nicely..

    Was watching this bushcraft video on youtbe, well the Mr was, made me watch it.. (I cant remember the series, but it has an eagle calling out really loudly in the intro)..lol..I can ask Mr...
    So, the guys wife did a video on cleaning a really old cast iron skillet. My skillet was a little dirty, so I tried cleaning it as well with vinegar and scrubbing with some aluminum foil. Worked great, was easy and now I just need to season a little bit more.
    You can get the best ideas by watching these DIY and info videos on youtube. I LOVE watching product reviews!
