So you kill and then smoke the meat you now have the hides to deal with.
Unless someone had stocked your place with teh chemicals to tan them with they might just let them become dried and still leaving them nearly useless.
Buf fear not I have a link that explains how to BRAIN TAN hides. A disgusting idea yes but you will love it when you use the hides for clothing, blankets, rugs whatever later on. Here is a link to the best Brain Tanning site that I have found. I have actually brain tanned things before under the supervision of my uncle in Alabama so can speak from experience.
