Found it....I've used some IR units....this doesn't look to have very good resolution.

    Also....can't weapon mount....

The cheapest FLIR unit I would give up my NVDs for was a Insight Tech....and it was about $10K low end...$13k high end.

It's also not easy....if not impossible to read a sign with IR.

Don't get me wrong....FLIR is the way to go....if $$$$ isn't a factor.....and some of the new hybrids are a dream.

I'm waiting to see where the new digital NV technology goes.

    Got a link?

    I use a Gen 3 PVS14 with a LaRue mount.

I can't think of a single piece of kit, after a good knife and rifle, that is more of a game changer. You can get Gen 3 now for about $2800. I mount mine in front of the ACOG. The LaRue mount is designed for exactly that height. Manage those batteries though!

If you have them, get out and "work" with them. It's one thing to set on the porch and gaze about, it's quite another humpin your essentials over unfamiliar terrain .... no real depth perception, narrowed field of view .... you'll need to learn to scan .... move and scan.
For those with pvs 7's or other binocular types .... do you use a laser sight? Is it filtered or can the bad guys see it too .... if its unfiltered it will eventually leave an "imprint" on you tube.

Echo, can you mount the pvs 14 in front of your scope like a uns?

I was looking at getting one definitely. This should be something you have just because if I was going to break in and steal some stuff or try and invade an area id probably try and do it at night so that is what I would try and defend against

the way it was explained....the wave length of the color is there whether we as humans can see it or not. The processor can differentiate between the colors some how...and voila color NVD.

I'm with you though....I'll have to see it to believe it.

Digital NVDs are coming on strong.....I'm curious why Thermal is still so expensive....now that they have the technology to produce the receiver plates for them....you would think that it would be like digital cameras....dropping in price....but they appear to be going in the other direction.

Hell....one of the new cars has a IR heads up display...High lights cars and animals....
