  • When to pull the trigger.

What event or news about an event would cause you to pull the trigger on your contingency plan?

Stage 1: Another Hugo like storm or forecast of ice storm with loss of power for 1 or 2 weeks.

Top off fuel storage-check generator- check day to day food supplies.

Stage 2: News of civil disturbance (food riots and looting) in major cities.

Check everything. Review perimeter defense plan, primary and fall back positions.

Stage 3: Civil disturbance within 100 miles.

Load all weapons. Notify close friends and relatives.
Become extra watchful and aware of what is happening.
    No strangers allowed on property.

Stage 4: Civil disturance within 50 miles. Cutoff of news coverage or declaration of martial law within 100 miles.

Total lockdown. Lock the gate. Set 24 hour armed watch.
Review primary perimeter and fall back defensive positions
    No one allowed on property.
    No warning shot.
You can't get here from there. ;)

I agree but there are some members of my family that would be better off not giving a warning shot LOL

Good plan, though in reality, I'd likely go to Stage 4 sooner, but you're a better judge of your area.

To be honest I haven't thought much about triggers myself. I thought that this would be a much bigger subject on this site but guess not.anyways I can't really say I guess that martial law w/in 100 mile I would be haulin a** to the hideout guns loaded family secured.

            Question

I see that you are in SC Are you in a smaller community or a city? I only ask because at the moment I am in a large city in TX and I have been trying to come up with a contingency plan myself.
The government can only give to you what they take from you.

If it gets to bad my family owns a big plot of land out in the woods(that is where were heading). Property has creek and fish pond(stocked) we built. If it gets to the point for me of anything bad with in 100 miles I am out of here and heading there. Plus woods are loaded with big game and little game alike.
