Yeah, good for packing when you've got more than one in your party and might need to split up for recon, etc.

My wife just took one w/her to pick up the offspring....'bout 11 miles away.

We'll see how they work in a few minutes...

I have a pair that are rated for 10 miles... I guess that is for a desert or plains with no hills or trees.
Real world usage where I live.. 1.5 to 2 miles.

Well, appx. 11 miles, a few hills and trees, and a lot of static, but they do work.

I'd say a good $65.00 spent for a couple of pack radios, since I don't really plan on being separated by that much, should TSHTF, God willing.

Beats the crappy Motorola, 3 AA battery, .75 mile-range, everybody's on your channel ones they're replacing.

I HIGHLY doubt it is 11 miles as the crow flies has to be 2 or less, those radios simply CAN NOT go that far based in frs/gmrs output requirements, and antenna height.

But good to know they worked

Eh, it probably helps that I'm sittin' on a hill and she' in the valley below. I can actually see her truck from my front porch thru the tele.

Even with a clear LOS, that range is pretty awesome for a cheapo radio. And I'm not spying on her....I'm simply, uh......observing her activities from a distance in a clandestine manner.......yeah....observing.

BTW...according to the range-finder, it's appx. 6.2 miles ATCF from my front porch to the school.

Make sure you get a GMRS license so as to not get the FCC after you

I am with Diesel and TLM most FRS/GMRS radio ranges are GROSSLY overstated:eek: However if you are on a hill you can really gain some range :D

Big Saw, pretty cool find on those radios :)
                    73

Someday someone may kill you with your own gun, but they should have to
beat you to death with it because it is empty.

The faster you finish the fight, the less shot you will get.
