  • President- 'emergency' control over internet

Note from a revived Senate bill on 28-Aug-09... check out FoxNews.com ...since I cant post URLs as the system says I havent made 15 posts or more... /politics/2009/08/28/senate-president-emergency-control-internet/

" Details of a revamped version of the Cybersecurity Act of 2009 show the Senate bill could give the president a "kill switch" on the Internet and allow him to shut out private networks from online access. "

Im wondering if this actually would be doable... although they do this in other countries such as China, Im not sure if its doable here in the States...

Although there are only a few key HUBS that most traffic is routed thru.. probably wouldnt be too hard to flip em to the 'off' position....

But it does give one pause to consider 'alternative' communications methods for our survival thru this so called 'emergency' our President might invoke.....

    Thoughts?

I'll be shocked if this doesn't happen; he's trampled the constiution several times already and nobody says a peep, he has congress and the supreme court in his pocket so he is basicly a neo-Stalinist

Plan on it happening. They don't like us to spread the word. Need other forms of communication. We all need to be able to keep intouch.

Think UUCP, dial-up BBS, AX.25, and repurposed SCADA hardware. Clandestine and covert communications have been going on long before the Internet. Time to get up to speed on some older legacy commo tech.

The groundwork is being laid for a complete seizure of power.
Last night i was reading Ch.7 ;the nazification of germany, from "The rise & fall of the 3rd reich" Its a pretty good peek at Obama's playbook(tough i'm sure he takes his ques from bolsheviks) Look for a Reichstag event....
Back on topic, we need alternate communications...Ticom plz elaborate or provide some links....i dont have time to train carrier pigeons.

can I do this from 2m/440/70cm? I am new to HAM, just getting my feet wet so to speak. I am familiar with military radio systems of the late ninties to present though anything there to incorporate?

AX.25 used extensively on 2 meters and 440 Mhz. Fair number of hams use surplus military radios on HF and 6 meters (VHF), myself included.

Those of you just starting out should pick up a recent copy of The ARRL Handbook on Radio Communications (a/k/a "The ARRL Handbook")and read it in its entirety. Lots of good learning material.

                          Iternet shutdown is a warning?

If the gov ever shuts down the internet in the states, they will probably say it was to close commo channels between terrorists who were planning an attack.
It would probably be one of the first moves for any internal gov takeover or what have you. If this ever happens, I would think about starting my BO plans.
