I just need an Antron 99 to get one of the radios up and running as a base. I have tried a 102" whip, and an 8 foot Firestick...but I can't get the SWR below 2.5 on either one!

Anybody know how far apart CB and 2m base antennas should be? I made a 28' mast pole from some stainless tube, welded a "T" to the top of it with short uprights on either end for antenna mounting (actually looks like an "H") which would have the antennas mounted 40" apart.
I use Ranger 2970s in all my vehicles, and have a 2950 set up at base....
plus a couple handhelds by midland....

Love the Rangers, 'cause you can drop into the "funnies" whenever you want to weed out the chatter...

I've been a part of this contingency within my group for years....we're never out of reach. Three words for ya: Redundancy, redundancy, redundancy......

Snail mail, CB relays, burst TX/RX, pre-determined courier routes....it's all easy to get onboard with...

During the DEc ice storm, we ran into communications problems. I was at our house, which is remote and hubby was down south on travel for work. There was no way for him to see if I was ok or for me to get help if I needed it. We still haven't found a way to solve this issue. We have thought about CB radios with a matching unit at a friends house, but so far, nothing concrete.

My group of "survivors", all have instructions in hand, on what to do when such a thing happens. They have detailed directions on whom picks up whom, what to grab, and how to get to our BOL. (3 different routes to the land are laid out) It is all a matter of being prepared. The ones whos vehicles will be taken, all have extra fuel ready to go. Many of them have BOBs. It happens, they will come..

started a topic What if TSHTF tommorow.

    What if TSHTF tommorow.

What if tommorow morning we woke up and there was no internet, and cell towers are down.

How would any of us communicate with each other. Communication is key!

How would we meet up, or trade or send goods to each other, or let each other know we were ok?

    Let's hear it.
Working...
