Negative. The electoral college keeps that need at bay. We don't matter. Ron Paul. :-) I'm registered independent anyway. Gotta make a showing. That's why Paul got #2 republican in some states. THATS how you show them what YOU want. (PS - They don't give a flying f*ck what you want)

Sigh.... if only people would open their eyes and see that we need someone like Paul to save what's left of this country. Otherwise I say let's buy him an island and start over lol :)

          Who else is "defensive" voting?

Good question, bug_out. This time around, I'm defensive non-voting. I definitely can't get behind either Obama or McCain. However, I equally didn't get behind Ron Paul, who was just as much in the pig trough as the rest of the Congress-critters and basically excused it by saying: "everybody else is doing it..." like some juvinile.

I also thought that the Libertarian Party seriously and perhaps fatally compromised itself by choosing Bob Barr as its Presidential hopeful. Not merely is Bob Barr, so far as I know, an unrepentant Drug Warrior and supporter of putting the Feds into consenting adult relations, but also he cut checks to GOP Statist candidates even when Libertarians were running in the same elections.

As the poster for Alien Vs. Predator put it: "No matter who wins, we lose." So I cannot in good conscience support anyone with my vote. I'm just going to take Voltaire's advice and tend my own garden (after I get one, of course.) At least your garden, pantry, toolbox, truck, and homestead treat you right when you treat them right. And when embarked on self-sufficiency and survivalism, your decision counts every day, not just every 2, 4, or 6 years.

I'm afraid this is my decision also. I've never missed a presidential election but this one...pass.

Kaya, you are correct about write-in votes. Still, I'm not wanting to give the electorial system even a pretense of legitimacy by even doing that. If the selection we have is the best it can do, it'll have to do without my support.
