Hi Sassy, my neighbor were breeding milk goat for a while I have to give up mine because of several back probles. She still has some I learned alot in a short time. Your billy should be ready at 5 or 6 months old if your 2 year old is in season. Be sure to keep him away from younger one as there are to young to kid and they will try! They will even try through the fence. One of my milk goats gave over a gal a day I sure wish I could have kept her she was so special. Good luck try to find book that will be helpful If I can be of help just let me know if I can help I ask my neighbor she knows a lot.

Raised Show goats for almost 8 years
I had bucks as young as 4 months trying to mount
Tried to let my does get to 15-18 months before first breeding
general consensus among most bredders I new was 9 months old (For does) at minimum for breeding
Currently have a 10 month old buck thats doing just fine with my 4 does All are bred for spring delivery

We raise Shami goats as well as Rahmani Sheep professionally. Both for meat consumption/sale, their skins and skulls. You can see our animals at: ainmusafarm.blogspot.com
Our does are normally bred at 9 months. The buck we wait just a tad bit longer to make sure their not just humping and shooting blanks. We have a Shami buck that's 4 months old already humping the does.
Take a look at our blog and you see some nice pictures and video of our operation.
You can always borrow a buck to service your does until your young buck is of age to do the deed.
