Really...really..., bugs? i did not know bugs were able withstand radiation fall out except roaches....And what is with the flight suit? this morning i received a text from a friend asking me if i going to start wearing my old military uniforms and eating bugs...This show is how most people base their opinion about us now, and their doing a really bad job on portaying the typical prepper. The older woman had alot of good ideas on where to hide food...

I agree that the bug family was ..... out there. I asked my wife, if he has a freezer full of something why not steak? Let's save eating bugs for when there's NOTHING else. But it did help me with a running joke. My wife and her co-worker keep telling me that they wont eat squirrel. I told her last night that after a week of bugs she would think squirrel was like a lobster dinner!
Anyway, I guess others would look at my preps and think I am "out-there" that's why I am not interested in being put on television.

The lady was a master of finding and maximizing storage space; lots of great ideas... My concern continues to be, though, about the recycling of all these stored foods. One has to have a very good and precise FIFO (First-In-First-Out) system to manage a large store of foods; otherwise, at one point in time, the food will go bad...

Yea that episode just made my take a deep sigh. They are really trying to marginalize us and make us out to be total wackos.

That is what I have thought all along . I think it would be a good show if they would just show normal people prepping for the future .

If it wasn't for the "nut jobs" it wouldn't be "good" tv. I gave myself a headache from face palming myself on all the stupid things they were saying & doing.:confused: I do find some of the stuff they interesting & smart, but for the most part WOW! I know I am in NO way a "professional" but I picked apart some many things on last nights episode. I had to eat bugs & other things in my survival class, but like myakka62 said, "Let's save eating bugs for when there is NOTHING else."

Regarding wearing old uniforms......I have all my multicam from Afghan prepped and ready to be reused...If I need to be tactical....I would rather be in multicam than blue jeans and a jacket from Bass pro shops or something....

the good thing is that with this show the focus is on the nut jobs, during TEOTWAWKI nobody will think to check out the normal people they wil think that all preppers are like those on the show

This is true but I think now more sheeple will be looking because they know that at least some preppers are out there and before they didn’t .

At this point I think you'd have to be slightly nuts to advertise your stores, knowledge base, location and ideals on national television. To make yourself a target both before and after doesn't make any sense. I prep for my family, for survival just in case and the actions of these guests on shows seem to be the opposite of the base idea. In my humble opinion.

I just started a thread about this Why would anyone agree to be on this show. 150% agree with you Salassion. Lets just show our cards on national tv and let everyone know where to go because they are semi if not all the way ready. The episode of the guy living in an old nuclear launch bunker and him showing his security setup totally floored me. I was like really? I believe these people are really out for attention. My motto on this is we never talk about our preparations unless its with other parties who are part of the preparation.
