I don't know if any of you know of dasarti1, David Sarti of TN. He makes a ton of youtube videos on prepping and was the disabled truck driver on last weeks Doomsday Preppers. Anyway while at a doctors office discussing health issues and what options he had, he made the comment that he might as well just kill his self and get it over with. Later the police showed up at his home and placed him in a mental hospitial for observation. This has resulted in him being placed on the FBI NICS list as having mental problems and they have revoked his right to own firearms. If you have watched any of his videos then you know he is sarcastic and brash alot of times and this has turned people off. My point is that what has happened is wrong and the other thing is that it could happen to any one of us. This should serve as a warning to all of us that what we may consider as a joke or a smart ass remark could result in being sent away or losing our 2nd amendment rights. Go to youtube to see his video and several other preppers who have came to his defense. There is also a link to a petition to have his record cleared and restore his gun rights.

This is heartbreaking... please, take a moment to listen - Longtime staple of the YT prepping community, and recently featured participant in the second installment of NatGeo's "Doomsday Preppers", dsarti1 aka David Sarti of Lebanon TN, has been UNJUSTLY labeled by the state as "mentally defective", as he explains in detail in the video below."We must all hang together, or assuredly we shall all hang separately."

Playint devil's advocate here........... Regardless of his personality and joking manner he DID make the comment to his doctor ( a stupid move on his part) joking or otherwise, that he might commit suicide. By law health care workers from EMT's to Doctors are REQUIRED by law to report such incidents to police and mental health officials. While normally they just have you sign yourself in for a 72 hour observation period, sometimes they use "force" to hospitalize the person. Usually they find the person is Non-suicidal and safe for society. Then everything is okay. Here they likly used his non traditional views as an extention of his statement to deem him a danger.
In this case it is a governmental way of silencing someone who disagrees with their narrow views.

Every time I go the the VA for treatment I get asked the question "Do you feel like hurting yourself or others" though you may be joking when you respond, they are not!! I know of two fellow Vets who lost their concealed carry permits and are now flagged in the database so they cannot buy firearms. Both are now working with lawyers to try and regain their rights to own firearms. So always respond with "no I would never do that" while looking them strait in the eye. Because any other response will most likely get you a nice 72 hour mental health hold and losing your rights.

Combine this info with the new Homeland Defense bill, the one that says that anyone including taxpaying lawabiding citizens can be arrested and detained without miranda rights if ANY government official deems them to be a terrorist (by their own subjective determination, no proof required) which means that ANY CITIZEN can be nabbed and stripped of his job and all his posessions, especially including any firearms and any survival goods (ie, food rations for more than a week). Not just our second amendment, but our entire bill of constitutional rights goes out the door if a high enough ranking politician doesn't like you, even just personally! this thread needs to be bumped up for views by new folks.
in today's atmosphere, there are some things you never joke about, and some places you never say certain things. lol i think it's illegal to say "going postal" while in the post office

I have seen his rant on youtube where he explains in his own words about the way he was baker-acted (at least that's what we call it) I think he might have some mental health issues, and I can only say that if he made the statements that he admits to making, then he gave them the leverage to take his guns.
The way the baker act works (or whatever your same "danger to yourself or others" law ) if you are once hospitalized, then you have to fight and appeal to get your rights back. It is just the opposite of innocent till proven guilty.
So the lesson learned is we have to watch ourselves at every moment to not give anyone the ammunition to use to question our lifestyle. That's why you dont joke about having a bomb on a plane. They do not accept it. But we know that, so if you do and you get arrested, then that's your fault.
We have to be vigilant. People do not understand us, and what they do not understand, they fear."Oh, America. I wish I could tell you that this was still America, but I've come to realize that you can't have a country without people. And there are no people here. No, my friends. This is now the United States of Zombieland"

discretion the better part of belaboring
all good points. the moral of this aesop's story is - be careful of anything you say out loud in public company because it could land you incarcerated!
underline the fact that most any publically accessable services institution, be it postal, transportation, health, or whatever, if it accepts any state or federal funding whatsoever, then it is bound by whatever governmental order that crosses the manager's desk. and that includes anyone who utters any of the words appearing on the no-no list!
I still joke with my facebook friend named jack that if i ever run across him at the airport, don't expect me to holler out "Hi, Jack!"JASCHF (Just Another 6.8 Cal Hunting Fan)
