I just finished watching the first years show called Doomsday Preppers. It is on the National Geographic TV Channel. They will start their second season in February 2012.
I watched a total of 4 hours of shows that used the different themes in each show.
1st show was about preppers who believe that natural disasters will hit their areas and they will need to Bug Out after the dust has settled. One was a major earthquake in LA.
2nd was preppers who started building up supplies at home and will stay there unless the area is unsustainable for human life. This could be caused by natural disaster , or man-made disaster. Including energy shortage, war, terror attack etc. Using group/families they are working together to build up their groups skills on weekends.
3rd show was people who believe in "2012 end of world". They do prep but are more into more of a religious involvement. The shows discusses the mynas calendar and what scholars think really will happened. They will follow the bible or a strong religious leader.
4th show was how the modern world has effected other societies that live a life free of modern devices. IE. South American and African tribes and how they either adopt or die off.
My eyes were open to several ideas that long term preppers like myself need in the way of renewable energy sources in the local area, and food sources once the markets are all gone.
I will let you know when the second season starts at least 2 days before it shows.
