  • Doomsday Bunkers! A new show on NAtGeo

    :confused::confused:

    Did anybody happen to catch this new show? I suppose it has some merits, but to be honest I don 't know too many people who can afford &70,000. to $450,000 for a Bunker.
    Guess I will have to take my chances with a shipping container, thart has been converted.

        Hi Zeke,

        I got a great deal on the shipping container! The dealer was going broke and I was able to pick it up $50. over cost. That was the only way I could afford it.

        By the way what do you think is going to happen? I think were going to see a total collapse of our monetary system, because we are too dependent on thwe world market!!

          Assuming you manage to scrape up enough to afford a smallish, used shipping container, Where on earth are you going to plant it if you don't any property outside of a postage stamp sized city lot? Just Saying!

            Slap together a few thousand in steel and plywood and sell it for a half mil? I am in the wrong business.

              I have a ranch in Arizona and just bought 5 acres in Colorado, which I hope to make my bug out camp.

                This is a guess, and just a guess.. But I HIGHLY doubt that's what the clients were charged or paid. I suspect these prices were substantially inflated for wow factor on the show, to boost the interest in his company, potentially lure investors, and to allow him to target higher end clientel.. also makes it look like these people have money which they may not. Another possibility is they are being financed as well some how.

                  Doomsday bunkers is an ok show, but the guy who owns deep earth bunkers has basically called preppers paranoid idiots who are making him money. i have watched the show for ideas. i cannot remember which episode he said it...he did put it politely though. im not mad at the guy, you know damn well he has one stored in his back yard......

                    I can see them being used as storm shelters or maybe low level fallout shelters or even fall back cahces. I am not spending money to die in a hole in the ground. The type of bunkers they are showing are not hard to crack. I would rather have that money spent on an above ground heavily fortified block house, that way I have a chance to defend it and not rely on some gimmicky booby traps.

                      Well, I do watch the show , but I don't have that money to build..so, My survival would be what i could carry to safety if there is such a thing at the time of turmoil

                        The show is interesting for the entertainment value but that's about it IMO. The idea of locking my family and I below ground for an extended period of time doesn't appeal to me. All someone has to do is block the air vents and wait, it's just a matter of time before the oxygen gets low and those doors open. Unfortunately whatever is waiting on those doors to open has just defeated your $450,000 coffin without firing a shot.

                            I think the best one was the missile silo. At one time they were going real cheap (for what your're getting).

                              I wish that they would show something more realistic for the common man . Like How Mr. so and so buried his conex and made it into a bunker or how he buried a (1) school bus and so on or how he converted his basement . To me this would be very entertaining and might be informative as well .
