  • North American Currency - Amero

Not sure if anyone has heard about this, and I tried to do a search for it here, but got no results.

The Amero. A new currency developed by the US government to replace the dollar when it crashes. After watching a video of Hal Turner informing people of the creation of the Amero (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VG0fu2YXeKA), I decided to look it up in Wikipedia (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Amero)

This seems to be the path we are taking right now, given the amount of money the government is shelling out for frivolous endeavors like the bailouts. What does the US government care how much money they're throwing at these companies? They know it's not going to be worth anything as soon as they decommision it as currency.

A thousand thoughts ran through my mind after watching the video and reading Wikipedia, but unfortunately for this message board, there isn't a hard drive large enough to contain my explanations, conditions, and other words of intellect I'm wanting to write. Hopefully you'll check this out, and put your money where it belongs...into stuff to help you survive.

I agree...we're on the verge of cash being absolutely worthless as we know it.....I'm just waiting for the Katrina-style debit system to come to the front of the foray, nation-wide. I put all my value in my equipment and gear....it does not succumb to inflation, stagflation, recession, depression, etc.....it's value will always remain constant: Priceless...

I'm in complete agreement- I've been putting every spare penny into food and gear purchases.

I've been familiar with and looking at the Amero for about a year and a half now. It does seem that the current financial storm is leading up to it's introduction. Ordo ab Chaos

What makes me the most worried about this particular scheme is the thought that we, as Americans, will be forced to accept this new currency which is not backed by anything other than the need for a currency. Its value will be determined by the amount of trust people place into it, and it will not be backed by anything other than faith.

If I stamped a coin with my face on the front, and a picture of a dog's leavings on the back, and told someone they have to use that particular coin to buy anything from me, the value of that coin will be worth as much as I decide it is. There is nothing else to back the value of it other than the willingness of someone else to trade as many coins as I request for a certain item.

Unfortunately, the only thing that our current dollar is based on is the trust that we have in it. The government says that $5 is worth $5 and we say OK. There is not enough gold (if any) in Ft. Knox to support the dollars on the books in the US. It's a fantasy.

In this article (http://www.gold-eagle.com/editorials...rby062806.html), it states that our constitutional currency used to be based on the premise of exchanging a silver note on the spot for silver coin of appropriate value. One dollar, constitutionally, was represented as roughly 25 grains of gold. You recieved a certificate from an individual for purchase of something, and could readily exchange the certificate for 25 grains 900/1000 fine gold.

Since doing this research, I have become even more familiar with the aspect of what currency is, in relation to how I (and many others) have perceived it to be. National debt is the amount of currency produced against ourselves. To purchase anything is to accept the debt of another, in order to cause the next to become in debt...

Anyway...I could ramble on, but I'm not gonna.

Physical ownership of Precious metals is one of the very few investments that are not someone else's liability.

                Gold in Fort Knox????

I've said it before and I'll say it again.

Invest in something that people will want.

When the SHTF I will not be seeking or trading people for bling, will you?

Things I will want, trade for or see value in? Food, Ammo, Rifles, Transportation, Fuel, Comm, Power, Shelter

If I have extra of any of these things, and you offer me gold or silver for it? I'm going to tell you to stick it where the sun don't shine.

                  Think about it.
WHAT IF THE AMERICA YOU KNEW, WAS ABOUT TO CHANGE?

The best thing you can do to support the site is pass it on to your friends and fav sites like other forums, facebook, twitter etc. Let people know about us! :)

True, but the original topic was about the Amero, not SHTF.
How do you know what kind of exchange rate you will be given for any dollars you have, or any in your bank? What if they try to do something humanitarian and give the Mexicans a better exchange rate on their Peso's and screw Americans on their exchange rate to level the playing field so to speak?

I think Gold will hold a decent exchange rate because it is an internationally
recogized form of money and/or store of wealth.

That was the context I brought up the Gold issue....
Just for further clarification... I will be making homemade bread 1 month after
TSHTF and will only take Gold or silver in exchange. ;) :)

Exchange rates are not available from anything I can research as of yet, but I have found a site http://www.dc-coin.com/index.asp?Pag...ATS&Category=8 that will sell a 100 denomination Amero for $65, which is a 1 oz silver coin, or a 20 denomination gold-finish coin for $19. 1 troy oz of silver estimated at $18-$22.

I have a friend who is deep in the "Sovereignty" crowd, you know, the guys who destroy their strawman. Anyway, they are predicting the introduction of the Amero within the next few months while others think alittle longer, but they say it will be this year.
