  • New Car Purchases Starting in June Will Have a Mandatory Black Box Installed

So now, the cops can sit on the side of the road, scan your black box and write you a ticket for speeding or not wearing your seat belt, even though they didn't see either.
Beginning in June of 2011, all new cars manufactured and sold in the United States will be required to have a mandated black box device installed, which can be used to monitor several different physical and technical data points.

    ....

The installation and use of these black boxes can have infinite possibilities for local, state, and federal governments to monitor and record data for a number of other revenue programs that are currently under consideration. In March, the Congressional Budget Office (CBO) issued a proposal to institute a tax on mileage to help pay for the federal budget deficit. Additionally, local cities and counties can download information from these black boxes, and they can be used to issue driving citations after the fact in the case of speeding or not wearing a seat belt.

How much do you want to bet they will be able to track every route you have taken, how long you were there and have real time tracking if they want.

I never believed in buying new vehicles anyway.

dont worry the hacks and virus's will follow.

virus's are already being transmitted thru wireless connections and cell phones. it ought to be interesting to see what happens.

lets see, you cant film a LEO in many states with out committing a felony, but they have nothing to hide. They can download all the data from your cell phone now with out a warrant.

They can sneak onto your property and plant GPS trackers on your vehicles, the courts ruled a citizen has no right to privacy on private property if a vehicle can be seen from the street.

its getting harder to find jobs that dont look at credit ratings, how that factors into anything is beyond me. you need a job to pay your bills, but they wont hire you if you cant pay your bills.

LEO and Neighbors can climb into your backyard and have you arrested for having sex in your own home. if the drapes are open. never mind that they had to tresspass to do it and that no one could have seen you thru the fence with out climbing into the yard. and yes you become a public sex offender at that point.

isint life grand here in the Banana Republic of America.

This just goes to re inforce that I'll refrain from buying a car newer than 2011.

                until you can clip it.

what's the average price increase for this Orwellian device?

Tenn is right... Within a few weeks, some 17 year old geek will have a hack on youtube that will enable the owner to bypass or modify stored data... god bless the nerds of the world..

You've generated a new thought in my warped brain. Can they transmit data to these devices so if you really weren't doing anything wrong, they can come up with "proof" that you did.

I used to support the Government, but with this bunch in power, I don't trust them farther than I could toss SkyOwl's anvil.
