I for one have numerous doubts. All I have to say is Americans really need to start asking some questions rather then just take the media and governments word for it. Sorry, I need more proof. I like to think things out before jumping into or on board anything.

Blind Faith In Leadership Will Get you Killed.

If it is true, I give all the credit to President Bush and our Military NOT obama!

The only way to truly believe it is for proper DNA results and a body for facial recognition software. Otherwise this is the normal dog and pony show put on by the government when they want to coverup something else. Saw this smoke and mirrors game pulled off a lot while in the Marines.
As for the burial at sea per Muslim custom, I would get banned in about 5 seconds if I voiced my opinion of Muslim customs.

I for one believe it for now. IMO if it were a lie, Al Qaida could have blackened the US eye five minutes after Obama's speech by having Osama give a speech on Al Jazira.(spelling?).

but I dont see it having much of an affect on Terror attacks. in some ways Osama prestige drew in fighters and support. with him gone, some will question whether Allah are still on their side. others will leave becuase their hero is now dead. a few might stay for revenge.

Some backers will no longer support them, but others might spring up because they didnt like Osama.

at the moment I tend to think that Al qaida has a month maybe two to make an attack in response. or they will lose support and their reputation in the jihadist movement will suffer.

the biggest strike how ever is on the religious side. with their Blessed leader dead at the hands of the US. it pokes them right in their fundimentalist mindset. right now several are wondering if Allah has abandoned them at that will have an impact out of proportion to Osama's death. whether it ends up affecting their operations enough to be obvious to the world is yet to be seen.

personally I think Al qaida is not a monolithic group, but a loose confederation of like minded fanatical organizations, most with different overall goals. and with Osama gone there will be cracks appearing that might just shake it apart over time.

anyway LOL sorry for the monologue. good Riddance to the human trash called Osama.

I'm not military here, so I can only offer a citizen opinion.

Folding up tents in Afghan and Iraq (et all) probably wouldn't serve our country very well. Usama is one dude. Another snake will rise up and replace him, leading another massive attack on us or our allies (though that list grows thinner each day).

And yes, absolutely. Killing that SOB is a victory, and it's a total smack down to what Usama indoctrinated and preached with to his minions... that the US is a paper tiger. Under the last administration, we have Mobilized entire armies, completely revamped how gov agencies communicate (share info), creeped closer to the line and okayed enhanced interrogation and off continent detainment, and essentially constructed the local bases and infrastructure that made this recent victory a possibility. Quite contrary to Usama's assessment of us, the US has taken it's gloves off and chased him and his bastards to the four corners of the earth... never stopping until they are detained, defeated, or dead... (que up photo of Bin Laden's brain bucket). Nearly a decade in the making. It's easy to gloss over that fact. The hunt for him took a decade and spanned two presidencies.

Folding up tents now and delcaring a victory... that doesn't sit well with me, and I cringe at how it would sit with the morale of the Taliban and Al Queda. He's one guy, and he'll be replaced. Now I know it won't happen with this administration, but I think we should push deeper. Perhaps pull back in some areas but definitely reach out in others and keep the pressure on these wackos. Give them the death they publically beg for, but do it at a time and place of our choosing... away from our children and monuments.

            Just one opinion.

Always been a patriot. Think about growing up in Southern California in the 60s and being a patriot. I wasn't very popular.
I've always been supportive of our military.
I'm the wife of a retired Army officer and the mother of a Marine.

Reality. The asshat in the White House has so tied their hands with his insipid rules of engagement that they are almost fish in a barrel.

The six men killed week before last were - in a war zone - UNARMED. BOs ROE suck as bad as he does.

                          So.

Either untie their hands and let them win the fracking thing or bring them home.

Coming from a military family myself I understand your feelings. My father was an early advisor in Nam, Various uncles and cousins have served or are serving today. LET THEM DO THEIR JOB! Rules of engagment should be "see them, kill them" period
