The series was cancelled before we found out if they ran the lizzards off. I remember one episode when the resistance used a little old lady to firebomb the invaders ship while it was parked on the side of the road. I remember them making a virus that killed a bunch of them off.

War of the worlds was pretty good too. Not the remake, but the original.

Well, if I recall correctly, the abript cancellation of the sreies called for some lame write-out where the friendly lizards stayed, the meanies left, and everything was just peachy......absolutly no closure or resolution to the plot......but, hey - the writers prob got stumped when they came to work on monday and found out that their show was dead next friday.......

      Eh.....c'est la vie....

"Does anyone else yell at the tv while watching these post-apocalyptic movies?"

The worst azz chewing I ever gave my TV was while watching "Saving Private Ryan" when that poor excuse for a soldier was wimpering on the staircase while his brother in arms was loosing a fight for his life just a few feet away! I have the DVD, and I skip that part now, otherwise it'll take days for me to calm down.

Yeah, that part ticks me off, too, but I think it accurately illustrates the mental and emotional fear that can really grip some people in extreme situations.

I've never been in that particular situation, but I have been crippled with fear a few times in my life.

Yeah...but this guy was against the whole "kill" thing from the get go. A better illustration would have been to use another charactor that wouldn't have been seen as such a whimp to start with.
The first time I watched it I expected that scene to be the event that turned that soldier into a shooter. Needless to say...I was disappointed.

IIRC, there was a similar character in the HBO miniseries "Band of Brothers", but think he redeemed himself and wound up dead...

Dammit, you had to bring up "Band Of Bros", didn't you? I was trying to avoid this topic, but now i have been forced into it by none other then the infamous "Zombie Axe".

Fine...here goes....Sorry to all you "Private Ryan" fans out there, but IMHO, the "Band of Bros" series makes SPR look like a Sesame St. episode.

A llittle askew from topic, I realize, but worth mentioning, since Zombie brought it up......blame it on him.....that's Z-O-M-B-I-E- A-X-E..........his fault... :D

                  P.s....If you haven't seen it, you're probably a closet-communist........j/k....but not really...

Not as good as The Patriot with Mel Gibson though.

The Patriot was The Shiznit, but Band of Brothers is my all-time-favorite....No better complete account, IMHO.

I don't, but I will say that nothing makes an urban theatre experience complete like some bunch of hood-y kids in the back yelling out: "DON'T GO IN THERE! THAT MO-FOKKA GWINE-A STAB YOU!"

                          :D

If you don't have that and the gum on the floor and the scent of popcorn oil and some best-left-unknown snogging, slurping sound nearby, you just can't say you know what a modern movie theatre is like. Three cheers for DVD, satellite on-demand TV, and TI-VO!

                          :)

After careful deliberation with myself...yes I have these deliberations often...I've looked at 28 Days Later, I am Legend, The Day the Earth Stood Still, The Day After Tomorrow, and Time Machine.

Out of all these movies, I find Time Machine (new one) to be my favorite due to the thought that during a world-ending time, some will hide underground, and others will try to maintain life on the surface. Because we don't know what could happen in 800,000 years, to me, it gives a greater understanding of "what if".
