  • First Health Care, Next the Food Supply

We talked about this in another thread in June of 2009, when this was a vague proposal - here: http://xcolony.com/x/showthread.php?...he-Food-Supply

This SOB is probably going to be voted on TODAY by the lame duck Congress. Quote from the article:
    Dr. Silva Chandra says,

If accepted [S 510] would preclude the public's right to grow, own, trade, transport, share, feed and eat each and every food that nature makes. It will become the most offensive authority against the cultivation, trade and consumption of food and agricultural products of one's choice. It will be unconstitutional and contrary to natural law or, if you like, the will of God.

It would allow the government, under Maritime Law, to define the introduction of any food into commerce (even direct sales between individuals) as smuggling into “the United States.” Since under that law, the US is a corporate entity and not a location, “entry of food into the US” covers food produced anywhere within the land mass of this country and “entering into” it by virtue of being produced.

It would remove the right to clean, store and thus own seed in the US, putting control of seeds in the hands of Monsanto and other multinationals, threatening US security.

    The whole article: http://www.americanthinker.com/2010/..._the_food.html

If you've never called your Congress critter, it's time to start!

I am confused. If the S truly HTF there will be no one left who cares what you grow. Anyone else who did you would shoot anyway so there is no issue as far as I can see. Do what you want.

The issue that I see is now I have to have 2 sets of seeds. One to hide and one to grow. This law makes it illegal to reap or clean seeds. If you grow a garden and they are pissed at you, they can charge you with a federal crime - smuggling.

Thinking further on this. I wonder if it would be a Segueway for the Government to do things like banning salt.

Good post... this ties directlly to global discussions of pending food shortages in developed countries and federal efforts to further control not just food production, but distribution networks as well. We are always just three meals from hell.

                Aye, Long_Hunter.

They now control your healthcare. Not a FOC (friend of commies)? TRY to get treated!
They now control your money. They just devalued it by a considerable amount.
They will control your food. When the average American sees their child hungry, they will ask the Government for help. Want Government help? They want your guns and loyalty first.

They have all of the control, they have you by the twins.

If the S were to HTF tomorrow there would be no problem. However, if you are trying to store seeds, create a barter system to have in place for when the S hits the fan, or simply have an emergency storage set up... then there is the problem. You can grow food for your family, but NOT for retail, even barter or local food vending on the road WITHOUT subjecting yourself to the federal "food safety" laws. Even the modified ones are pretty detailed and lenghty and add more cost/hoops for the small food grower. Plus, if you are discovered with a large quantity of food, all nicely canned and shelved, well you COULD be running a grocery store from your pantry. (rriiiiiigggghhhhttttt) Then, you are in violation. I use to work with a large pet food manufacturer in the quality assurance division taking care of the purchasing of raw pet food grade materials. Many of our suppliers were FDA approved, which means FDA regulated. Since the pet food company was also FDA regulated, we had to use FDA regulated and approved suppliers. Many of the laws did not make sense, but it added to the bottom line for many testing companies whom had lobbyists that made it FDA mandated to test FDA supplies via their FDA approved test kits. Which, of course, are one use kits instead of multiple use. They made LOTS of money this way and everyone was happy. The senators, the company, the large food suppliers (this costly test forced small suppliers out of business), everyone except the buyer of said supplies and the end consumer whom invariably paid for those wonderful one time use test kits. This is the same law just nicely wrapped for sheeple food consumption vehicles.

Just shows how stupid the whole thing is. By not allowing people to buy or trade food from others you are creating a food shortage.

It is certain the Government will try to take everyone's food along with their guns. This gives them the justification.

But, remember this is all for OUR safety!!! The government cares for us and are only working for our BEST interest. (Did anyone else gag when trying to swallow that one?)
What REALLY scares me is the amount of people that have no idea about this new law, even with the news coverage and/or don't understand the implications of it and are completely okay with this law. ????

You may just want to go to Burpee. If you read carefully, they have non-hybrid seeds. The survival seed bank packages seem to have ninetyleven varieties of tomatoes and stuff that we just wouldn't eat or couldn't grow, here.

By the way, this was voted to close. There are differences between the Senate and Congressional versions, it'll have to go to reconciliation. You still have time to call your senators and congress critters.
